Looking For Your Input : New Book Cover Time

Yeah, it's me again with another thread regarding my first published novel. It's getting republished with a new cover to appeal more for marketing purposes, so, in short, there's two options to choose from. Which one do you like best?

    I appreciate the support, people.
    • Synopsis

Marquis “Move Out” Mariolis had huge aspirations of using his athletic ability to change his life leaving behind his mischievous ways as a teen. With the help of his high school coach, Move Out began to mature into a distinguished young man. His entire life changed when a lie brought his world to a crashing halt. Although the truth eventually prevailed, the damage done to his life and goals set him on a new path. Obtaining influential guidance from those who learned from past mistakes, Move Out adapted to his new journey. As an adult, he developed even larger goals to ensure the youth from his community didn’t follow criminal ways. He sought to make a difference in his community and the world. Marquis built a hidden empire without the help of his extremely successful friends to offer them full deniability. His plan was to use the resources from his empire to witness his goals come to fruition. Move Out's ultimate goal was centered around getting the underprivileged to the upper echelon of motorcycle racing. While striving to make a difference, he and his five closest friends lived like tomorrow would never arrive. Throughout his journey, Move Out learned the best-laid plans can go awry even with the best intentions in mind.

I've never been crazy about seeing real photographs on the covers of books, because it seems harder to incorporate titles and the author's name without it coming off as a low-budget effort. And I just enjoy creative artwork - in my experience, the better writers tend to care more about quality artwork (as opposed to, say, what's commonly found on women's written-word-pornography "romance" novels). Portraits used on biographies and memoir-style books are usually an exception. That said, I chose the Leaning photo because it looks a bit easier to work with. You could fade out of the photo above and/or below the riders and allow space for clearer text design. I don't know what you have in mind for overall design, though.

Solid feedback which is greatly appreciated.

The plan is to pull out an off-the-wall blending/stellar graphic art design to draw in readers who get a quick glance at the cover. The idea is to pique their curiosity enough to where they pick the book up off a shelf and want to read the synopsis on the back. The rest should fall into place as people who read the synopsis typically become intrigued.

Curve pic shows more action. The tunnel is the most interesting part of the tunnel pic. It looks cool, but I feel like action and movement definitely best suit your story.
