I'm not applying to be a stockboy... I'm looking at management. Not sure what it pays, but I expect 40k plus bonus to start. I'm qualified as far as education goes for much better... my experience just sucks. I want to get in at low-level management and get promoted within the year. If I stick with the company, I expect to be a District Manager in 3-5 years.

i dont know who said it before, the intraweb is being laggy, but you def need an objective, what your goals are for yourself and how they will benefit the company. its a kiss ass first liner. and i would take off your very first delivery job, it was only one year and you were prob 16ish, all the other show a good 5 years of dedication showing you stick to what you do.

Hola, tengo tres patas. Me llamo tripod.

That's very important. Make sure it sounds legit and from you, not just some cookie cutter "I really want to work with you" kind of thing.

Roofing is hard work but it is REALLY rewarding (part time roofing over summers here)

Wow Im in a resume class right now and that is sort of what i started out with and it turned into something really good..

I dunno you need Specific things you bring to the table, you need to tell your employer what skills/experience you have that will help you with whatever job you are applying for.

Our teacher had us put our refrenses in another page(i know you dont have them on the resume page), and is making us include A cover letter.to each specific job. You need your basic resume and taylor it to each specific job/company you are applying for. You need to make yours stand out, cause like someone else said, they look at thousands of resumes..

Ima try and attach mine, dont know if it will work.. I know its not done and I know there is some basic stuff about me using hand tools, but these companies that i am applying to need to know that, because certain people they have hired dont know any basic hand tool.s

Ugh it wont let me attach it, its to big, im kinda working on it still...

Roofing isn't a career option for a college graduate, though! The point of my education is so I don't have to do what my father did all his life (he was a contractor). It's good, honest work... but when I come home from work, I want to take off my tie... not my boots. Plus, in the corporate world, the higher you go, the easier the work becomes. You just have to be smart enough!
Still, corporate management isn't really my ideal either. I want to be a marriage counselor... just need school. For school, I need money. For money, I need a good job!

BB&B isn't the stuff I'm into, but it's not what the store offers, but the environment of the company itself. The stores are well organized, the employees are always happy. There is always someone doing what they should be doing (you never go in there and see employees goofing off...). Everyone is pleasant, the place is always neat and organized, and everyone seems to know their job very well. It's a very well-run company, that is expanding quickly.

I'm 27 now, so all that work is after the age of 20 Sadly, before Pizzaland was Dominos... and before that was my only real management experience... Hollywood Video and the Ritz 12 movie theater. THAT was when I was 18-19.
The delivery driver stuff doesn't really do much... it shows independence, which is why I put it there... but I suppose in a corporate team environment, it's not really necessary.

I like BB&B as a company, so I think my cover letter will reflect my understanding of the company. I'll read through their company philosophy and stuff and include that as well.

Yeah, those are all the key points I've always been taught. Tailor it to the company, use a cover letter that is written TO the company (best to have the name of the person that will read the letter, not just "Dear Sir or Madam" if possible. References are always helpful. My current 'boss' will be one, my boss at Outback will be another, my boss at a flower shop a third...

It's tough to fit my foodservice jobs into something involving management. At Bennigan's, I DID do some management-level duties, and received training for such. We were also left to fend for ourselves, so I had to make management-level decisions at times (outside of my job description, and not exactly fair of management to put that on the service staff... but it happened)

I wish I could put more weight on cb7tuner as experience! I feel this is the best management experience I have! Hell, I even rose to be the owner from being a regular member! That has to show drive, dedication, and competent leadership! (I hope... )

I'm applying for a corporate management position. The company itself doesn't really matter... well, it does... but I'm more concerned with the quality of the organization, rather than the products they sell. Bed Bath and Beyond is a very strong company, both in terms of organization and growth.

I also worked for myself, very successfully I might add, for the past year (my only reason for looking elsewhere is that the person that supplied the majority of my work screwed up and can't afford to give me any more...)

I agree that there is a good amount of non-professional stuff on this forum, but honestly, most of MY dealings are quite professional. Anything that isn't by-the-book serious isn't offensive or irrational. I wouldn't be embarrassed to have an employer look at the way I conduct myself here, the way I've structured things, or even how my staff and members perceive me. I have a feeling that if a prospective employer were to interview a random member here, even say... fizzbob7, who I've butted heads with countless times, there wouldn't be anything significantly bad to say about me. It's a display of my management ability, customer service ability, written communication ability, organizational ability... It's probably the most applicable achievement on that resume!
