    Ok, need some job ideas...

I'm still on the hunt for a job. I have a bunch of resumes and applications out there already, but I'm still waiting to be called (it's only been a few days for most of them, and this is the weekend, so I'll probably get a call...)

Anyway, I'm going headlong into something. Anything. I'm not happy with the insecure, unpredictable position I'm in now, so I'm just gonna cowboy up and get a big boy job

So, I'm gonna bite the bullet and go for retail management. I can do it. I know I'd be damn good at it. I never wanted to before because of the hours and the work itself... but it beats restaurant work, and it beats not knowing what I'll make from week to week (at the mercy of a lawfirm that occasionally pays, and two other subcontractors that pass my work down to me... rather unstable!)

    I've applied to:
    Home Deopt
    Walgreens
    Bed Bath and Beyond

    About to apply to:
    Wawa
Discmakers (not as "big corporate" as the others... they make CDs... pretty cool company. My friend that designed the official CB7tuner tshirt works there, and that tshirt design helped him get that job )

Does anyone have any suggestions for other good companies to work for? I'm looking for $35k/yr MINIMUM... that's pretty low, and considerably less than I pulled in last year... but it'll get me by comfortably enough. I can't go in somewhere making $12/hr... I just can't live on that pay. I need about $17.50 an hour, and a 40 hour workweek.

I'm not just interested in the money, but also a good place. If I'm going to get a "real" job, I'm going to go with a company that is successful, treats their employees with respect, and is well organized. That means no Wal Mart, and probably no Target. The companies I've applied to are very well run.

So, any suggestions would be great! I don't know what a lot of the management positions make in these places, so if anyone knows, please throw it out there! I don't want to waste my time or theirs by getting an interview just to turn down a $22k/yr job!

I don't know about Home Depot... but Managers at Lowe's are making $15ish/hour.

I might have to give them a shot. Probably no better or worse than Home Depot! $15/hr is about $30,000 a year, so that's really cutting it close to my limit. The problem with retail, especially management, is that you never know when you're working... so a second job is difficult to work with. (if I got a 9-5 that paid well enough, I could get a night job no problem!

I'm in the same position, I need a second job or a job that pat significantly more but all the calls I get in response to my resume are 1 shift jobs which pays identical or less than what i make now. If I could get a full or part time job which pays the same i get now bu after 5pm then I would be golden. I just need it for like 6 months so i can stack alot cash before the baby is here. I'm staying positive tho because the wifey and i do have jobs but I like extra security.

Yeah, very true... It's hard with corporate jobs though. I have no idea who I'm calling! I've done that with other jobs, when I would speak directly to the manager that would be hiring me. It works, but only if you talk to the right person!

I haven't gotten an interview yet. It's still early... Home Depot and Walgreens aps are just over a week old, and they're busy companies... and not actively looking for people. BB&B is looking, so I'm hoping I hear something soon! Once I get an interview, I'll probably be hired. I conduct myself well. Unfortunately, I have little retail management experience, so my resume doesn't stand out.

I can't find any good resources on average salaries for various places... there MUST be some sort of online listing for the average income for nationwide corporate management...
