Brief History:
I bought this car from Mike (deevergote). He bought the car about 2.5 years ago from Carlos (wikkedv16). Carlos lives in FL and Mike lives in NJ. Mike went down to Fl and drove this thing back to NJ for a project car. Well, it sat in his yard the whole time and he never did anything with it so I picked it up for a good deal. I had to rig a few things to get the car up to par to make the trip to VA but it made it fine and has been runnin strong since! This is my new daily driver for the next few years.
Pros:
only 116k miles!!! (120k now)
no serious issues
I know some history of the car and what its been through
Cons:
the back end was so slammed that the factory 13's tucked!!!
lots of little things which are getting fixed when I find the time/money
So far I've done:
windshield
EBC red stuff front pads
ceramic rear shoes
Techstar x-drilled rotors
Brembo rear drum cover
KYB GR-2 struts
Suspension Techniques 2.5" drop springs
new brake hardware (bolts/clips/springs/etc)
16 new wheel studs/lugs
painted calipers/brackets
Valve Adjustment- .005 intake, .010 exhaust
Valve Cover Gasket
Spark Plugs
Wires
Cap & Rotor
Oil Change & A Good Flush
Added a bunch of missing bolts and removed the rattling heat shield
Made a new plywood rear trunk/spare tire cover (under the carpet)
Kenwood tape deck & 6 disc changer
Pioneer 6.5" rear speakers (fronts are still good)
ghetto intake
water pump, thermostat & coolant flush
oil pan gasket
and a few other things
I got a scare when I did the plugs (first time since I bought it). The more I loosened plug #3, the TIGHTER it got!!!! Scared the shit out of me but I managed to get the plug out and salvage the threads in the head. It coulda been real bad but all is good. It's a LOT more quiet from the valve adjustment. Now I hear the distributor grinding inside so I have to speed up the OBD1 conversion (new dizzy). It runs a lot better. Idle is still pretty loopy so I'm gonna adjust the FIV sometime soon and reconnect some of the idle vacuum lines.
The water pump seal blew on my way to work one day so I had to keep pulling over every 5 min and put water in it to get to work. Got a chance to change it real quick and have not had any issues since.
Things getting done in the near future (probably in this order):
stage1 clutch
both axles
3 motor mounts
adj. cam gear
timing belt
oil pump
wheels/tires & an alignment
OBD1 dizzy
OBD1 (245cc) injectors
OBD1 O2 sensor
OBD1 2.5bar MAP
Chipped P06 ECU
ALL NEW FLUIDS
water jackets
battery relocation to trunk
MSD 6AL
MSD HVC Blaster coil II
adj. fuel pressure regulator
and more goodies I'm forgetting right now.
Future Plans:
interior pieces and other cosmetic work
add a sunroof
head gasket (new t.belt too)
head studs
possibly turbo?
