    mondojackal : 1991 240SX SE

Bad background, but the car looks good!

Ok, I thought about cleaning up this thread some, so I'm gonna go ahead and add my future plans to this first page to make it easier for people to find it!

As you can see, I've done most of the "regular" stuff. The car is set for more power once I get the 5-lug swap done, and install the other wheels and tires I've got sitting around.

Basically, all I'm waiting on is the cage, and then I'm going to start buying turbo parts and stashing them until I've got my setup, then I'm planning on running that on a stock block while I build my spare block.

I have been thinking of doing a small, simple T2 setup with a bottom-mount tubular manifold, but I'm not really sure yet.

    Just for shits and giggles

Here is a short clip showing me driving the car. Nothing special at all.

Well, in the relatively short term (depends on cash flow-this is gonna be a slow build-up).

    Short term:

    1. finish up fixing the paint (contemplating repainting the entire car)
    2. auto->manual swap Completed!
    3. polyurethane suspension bushings (including rear subframe) Completed!
    4. full coilovers Completed!
    5. get racing seats (just waiting on the cage)
    6. exhaust (3") Completed!
    7. some sort of limited slip Completed!
    8. header of some sort Completed!
    9. S14 seats Completed!
    10. Z32 brake upgrade Completed!

Random stuff that i still need to get around to doing:

    1. electric fan conversion (will probably wait until I swap the other motor in, or until turbo install).
    2. strip interior (rear seat and hatchback area, possible battery relocation) Completed!
    3. fix exhaust rattle Completed!
    4. intake Completed!

    Long-term plans:

    1. Finish suspension and chassis
    a. tie rod ends
    b. RUCA's (rear upper control arms, for camber correction) Completed!
    c. rear toe arms Completed!
    d. rear traction arms Completed!
    e. adjustable tension rods (controls extraneous movement of lower control arms) Completed!
    f. get a custom welded-in cage
    g. fully stitch-weld the chassis (at least forward of the firewall).
    h. harness bar (integrated into cage)
    i. 5 lug swap

    2. Turbo parts
    a. log-style turbo manifold
    b. custom 3" downpipe
    c. T3/T4 .50 or .57 trim
    d. FMIC
    e. 72lb. injectors
    f. Enthalpy or JWT tune. possibly a standalone
    g. tial wastegate
    h. Z32 MAF
    i. walbro 255 fuel pump (or two, once boost goes higher)
    j. gauges-wideband, boost, EGT maybe
    k. BOV of some sort

    3. Block build-up-i'm thinking:
    a. Arias pistons
    b. Carrillo rods
    c. balanced and fully counter-weighted stock crank
    d. Clevite bearings
    e. Cometic HG
    h. some sort of stage 2 cams
    i. valve springs and retainers
    j. ARP hardware, of course.

    4. set of wheels (dont know what kind i want, but im pretty set on a size)
    either:
    a. 17x9 (+15) fronts and 17x10 (+12) rears
    or:
    b. 17x9 (+24) all around

    Completed! in a way..

I've got some 18x8's for the front, and some 18x10's for the back. I'm going to need some serious spacers for the front because the offset is +30, but that's ok.

Alotta old KA-T's have a nice golf ball-sized holes in their blocks. If you do turbo it, just do yourself a favor and get it tuned by a reputable tuner. Otherwise, go JDM stock turboed.

EDIT: I know they fit, and come in the 180SX, but don't do the CA18 thing. Turbo doesn't replace displacement.

Anyhow, great pickup!!!!! I wish I built up the one I bought a while back. I might still get one to build up.

                    werd..
i've been a lurker on numerous 240 forums for a while. trust me, im not going RB (too much money) or CA (even volumetric efficiency isnt an argument when you're talking a Nissan motor vs. a Nissan motor)
i want to go KA-T, since the TQ numbers are awe-inspiring for someone who drove a honda, but, then again, the SR swap is much easier, and it's easier to get higher numbers up to a point (building the block, im thinkin)
