The car idles high on start-up even after the clutch is released. We have cleaned the throttle body and I think he cleaned the IACV as well. Also, it just started to bog down while in gear. For example, while accelerating, the car starts to slow down and no matter how much gas you're giving it, it's not going any faster. Once this started to happen, I went ahead and shifted into the next gear, only for it to happen again.
I have heard a "thunking" noise once, sounded like the gear finally engaged even though I was already in it. I also felt what I am going to was a grabbing sensation. It felt like the clutch or flywheel(if that even moves) was engaging on its own.
We plan on check the transmission fluid this weekend, but we are still stumped by the very high idle. If the clutch is still engaged, would that cause a higher idle. I don't know RPM either because the car isn't equipped with a tach. We only have tach/dwell meter and couldn't figure out how to connect it.
