    what's the number? thanks man!
Tim, I just gave Candace my plate number, name, and address. She actually gave me a choice where I could take the car. I chose something close.

The Smog Ref # is (800)622-7733

Its going to cost me $40 bucks to get tested.

    Glad to pass the info!

          The Accord = Gross Polluter

I'll scan the test results in a few. The Ref said to get a AEM intake for the Prelude, or put the stock one back on. I need to label where all the emission controls are (EGR, Map Sensor, etc) He also said to make sure all of those items are from the prelude.

My HC's, CO numbers were above the max allowed.

My setup - 94 JDM Prelude H22A - JDM P13 ECU - Stock JDM Header - Accord AEM cold air intake - Greddy SP Exhaust.

Looks like I got some work to do.

The test took approximately 40 minutes.

There were two technicians overlooking the car.

What did they recommend to you to fix it.

if they don't know where those parts are (EGR, map, etc) then they don't qualify as a tester to me. a manual should simply point those out to them. and NO you shouldn't need prelude parts when the accord units are the exact same parts just in different locations. pretty wack man but burning as a gross polluter you might need to change that timing or something to nock down those numbers.

were they very high above the max limit?! thanks for sharing your experience paul.

Don’t feel bad Paul, the likelihood your car will pass the first time is pretty slim. Reason being is your car will sit for 20-30 minutes as they inspect your emissions, run the carb eo numbers and check your ecu.. That takes time and in essence your cat is completely cold. If your catalytic converter was Hot then your numbers would be totally different.

Intake: I experienced the same thing with the Aem Intake. The referee stated it needed to be off of a prelude, so best bet would just install a Stock Intake and play it safe. Its really up to the Referee, the Ref failed me for having a accord intake, 2 days later Jaime has the same car and swap and he passes him with a DC intake for a Accord.. Go Figure. I know Sean had the same thing happen to him recently. Save some money and just run the stock intake.

Hood Emissions Sticker: The sticker under the hood could easily be referenced by them, maybe you can print it out and show it to him or or order a new one from the dealer. A lot of the sensors from the prelude are located in different areas so make sure you know where all these sensors are on your accord and show point them out to the ref. This will cut your chances of him second guessing you just because it seems like you went over his checklist and had the highlighted areas corrected.

                  What to do:
Take it to a regular smog place or test only station and explain to them you’re trying to BAR your car and you just want to see what numbers it puts down. Most shops can run a test smog for you, this way you can get a better understanding where your no and co readings are and determine what parts are needed. Ie. 02 sensor, cat, and egr. Make sure your Cat is Hot, So pop v-tack a few times, run it at a lower gear and higher rpm and leave it running. If you need your catalytic replaced get a high volume cat so it cleans up the UN burnt fuel. If you have a problem finding a smog shop to conduct a test smog, let me know so I can refer you to a smog shop in Vista California. They helped me bar 3 car.. Accord twice and Del Sol once. Don’t worry man, that motor will pass with the JDM Ecu..

Hey could you guys give me a brief rundown on how this BAR works. whats the point of getting ur car BARed??? read up a little but really didnt make sense to me...

                      Comment

BAR stands for board of air resources, and "BARing a car" usually involves a car with an engine swap. when you BAR the car, the state smog referee goes through a big test to see if your swap did not hinder california placed smog emissions and is burning clean. in other words BARing makes your swap legal IF you pass.

Here are the numbers that are high. I took the car on a 20 minute freeway run before I went to the Ref. Ran through all the gears, VTEC'd a lot really gave it my all here. Got to the ref, left the car running... made it on time 7:50AM turned it off and it sat for 10 mins. time of actual test was 7:59AM.

This shows the repair suggestion. The 392-5 No Good is the AEM Intake for Accord.

This pic he gave me cause he could not find the items circled. He suggested that I install these items on the same side as the diagram, so its easier for him to identify... lol.

All in all I knew I wasnt going to pass, but wanted to get a good idea of where I needed work. I get a free retest so I'll do a little more research, fix the items I can and go from there.

This test only cost $30 bucks.

I'll look for a stock intake and install that.
I'll label all the emission control systems he could not find so its easier next time for him to identify.
02 sensor is new OEM honda unit.
Cat is old with 196K on it
Jesus did the EGR & port cleanse before the motor was installed.

Thanks for all the help guys! Im sure Ill have more questions as this progresses.

I had to do the same stuff when i first bar'd my cb7..
Explain to him that 24 and 16 are in the black box thats located in the fire wall.. You can tell him that its the same thing and that you dont want to relocate it since it has a mounting place and you have no room on that side..

the intake control solenoid valve and intake control diagram i believe is right by the battery.. if you have your stock accord intake it should have the necessary parts to pass the visual..
