the mighty jesus has worked on another socal CB. this weekend he did a clutch/flywheel install on john's ride (gary's old beater!). also installed the final rear motor mount to complete the ESP mount set! ALSO changed both axles so now the motor is ready to track, besides breaking in the new clutch.

next up for his car, suspension. got sways and coilovers lined up already. working our way FAST to hit the track before the year's end (maybe)!!!

My DB8 blows black smoke when I push it and shift at high RPMs and when I downshift at high RPMs. If I had a straight-through muffler, I'd be spitting out flames. Lol!

Well Jed, without doing a leak down test, its hard to tell dude. With the leak down test we will see how your rings are doing in there as well as the rest of your motor. If that checks out good the most likely your valve seals will need to be replaced.

With the mileage on your motor, I have seen this happen quite a few times. most people go with a jdm replacement motor in this situation.

I can perform the leak down test for you, I just need the car to be cold at the time the test is performed.

jed, I agree with jesus too. I'm helping two of my friends rebuild their motors now too. the gsr motor had bad valve seals and his car was smoking pretty bad. and his rings were fine, so was his walls. and as for tony's h22, his rings were bad and his walls were scored. not sure why, but I have seen more h22's with bad rings than valve seals. if you can rebuild the motor yourself, go for it. but if you had to pay someone to do it, and buy parts, for the rebuild, get a used longblock. unless you're a baller, and want that motor fresh, go for it. which ever fits your budget is the best bet in my opinion. good luck.
