Mine were terrible though. I would make a few great runs, then call for an official one and I would cone or brake too late or something stupid like that.

Yep. And results are still not up yet. There was a timing issue. I know what it was though.

It all happened when I went in the trailer and started announcing. The guy entering in the cars when they wanted an official run was entering in a block that was already on course, when he should have been putting it on the next slot. I was hesitant to say anything though, since I have never worked timing, or even seen the software before.

I have done that before, but only when hitting a cement wall. But now as a precaution I weld the balljoint into the arm as I have heard of others having this problem. You may be able to save that one by hammering it back in, spot welding it, and repacking a new boot with grease.

good idea, i was just going to make an entire arm to fix the problem with 4340 and a spherical bearing, lol.

would the heat from the welding affect how the ball sits inside the joint though?

This was a replacement upper joint from NAPA. While it fit snug in the control arm when I first installed it (2.5 weeks prior) I assume that the loads of me driving every day, and my little mountain trip, and then the 50+ autox runs were the last straw for the snap ring. I have ordered new control arms w/joints. I think I may have them welded in for extra security.

no problem with either of mine since welding with over 8 hours of track time on them now, you dont need to run a bead all the way around just a couple spot welds work fine.
