Never had a Zune but I just got my 8th ipod in the last 18 months. I have definitely spread them out with the lineup looking like

1x ipod mini - gave to my liljoegood1 last year
1x 60gb 5th gen video - stolen out the cb
2x 20gb 4th gen - 1 given to older son, other sold
1x 20gb 4th gen photo - sold
2x 30gb 5th gen video 1 given to mrs. other is mine
1x 40gb 4th gen - sold

I'm actually in the market for another ipod or two, one too hook up in the car so that can be 4th gen of at least 20gb and a new 80 or 160gb classic

just got my zune today, pain in the azz so far, had to update my windows and stuff. Ipod was a pain in the azz two.

OK. Next time I'm in circuit city, I'll fiddle with them to see how they function. If i like, i'll get my brother to buy it with his employee discount

Ive got a 30gig Ipod video (got it when it came out). It has treated me well and hasnt broken yet. My lil bro has a Nano and those things break like nothin.

I know all your Ipod sales are on ebay, Matt, so I don't really have an issue with you mentioning them here. However, I do discourage any sort of selling in the Beginner Forums.


As for the Ipod or Zune... I wouldn't get an Ipod if I planned on using a computer running Vista. I wouldn't get a Zune because the Ipod has MUCH more aftermarket support (it's like buying a Hyundai or a Honda... many more options with the Honda!)


Personally, though... Creative Zen for me!

my dad's creative zen worked fine and acted more of a flash drive when transferring music....and then he lost it

Agreed with wed3k. The only thing I dont like about the ipod is the use of itunes. Another thing I hate about it is that the video has to be in quicktime format. Cant use wmp.

I've got a Zune. And I do like it. I've had some troubles trying to figure it out, it's pretty tricky plus the Zune software is a bitch. Organizing pictures and video's is hard, pretty much everything with the program is hard to learn. But I like using the Zune. Hopefully the next generation will have resolved most of the bugs.

I own a zune and personally I love it compared to a Ipod. Once you get over learning the software (not really hard) but if you are a IPOD user and then try using the zune software, then you are kinda babied as far as how easy the Itunes software functions are setup. The only thing I hate about the zune is the crappy battery life if you are watching movies. I can get probably 2hrs max as far as watching movies straight...but if u are just listening to music then it lasts just as well as an IPOD.

If you are into the hacking scene, you can actually buy a aftermarket HD and upgrade it to hold even more! I also use mine as a portable HD too. The radio function is ok....but the reception doesn't get as many channels as it should. The TV out is really good too.

But kinda off topic, My PSP does all the things any zune or ipod can do other than the fact hold more than 8GB. I mean really when I have all these mp3s i probably only listen to a handful of songs over and over so 8GB is good and + the battery life on the PSP is waaaay better than a zune or ipod. I can watch at least 3-4 movies and it still has some juice. I'm thinking about buying a PSP-slim for the sweet TV out but right now i'm good.
