ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    F22Ax cam..

So I have an extra F22A cam and do not know which it is, like which model engine it is from, I know it is from a F22A but do not know which, my old Auto Tech teacher gave it to me as a core when i was gona get a cam regrind so I had one to drive my car still. Any way to tell which cam it is?

The a1 and a4 cams are exactly the same - the only difference is the exhaust manifolds (fairly certain about this). There should be stamps on the end of the cam, but if there isn't, most likely you'll have to get dial calipers and measure the diameter of the lobes and compare them. If I find measurements I'll post them for you.

The A6 is dual runner, as is the A4. But the A1 and A4 are the same for intake. Different for exhaust. The A6 cam has an extra .005" lift, over the A4 and A1 I believe, and there is a small difference in duration.

        life is good.

A4 is not a dual runner. That would be the IAB system, which is only on the A6.

A cam regrind is basically changing the geometry of the cam, which will give more power, yes. It will also often adversely affect your idle and fuel economy (though not much, if you don't go crazy)

So I have taken a look at the cam and there is a stamp on the end that says 3A and there are 16 lobes total, does this mean it is dual lobe?

16 lobes. 1 for each valve.

We have a SOHC 16 valve motor. 4 valves per cylinder. (2 intake 2 exhaust).
                3 CB's gone....
                1 WK Overland....

Still miss the CB though......maybe one day.

To state my question better, how can you tell whether the cam is dual lobe (A6) cam?

The A6 cam is not a dual lobe cam. You're thinking of VTEC, and the F22A does not have that. You have 8 intake valves, and 8 exhaust valves... 16 valves total, and one lobe on the camshaft for each valve.

I can't recall if the A6 cam is stamped differently than the A1 and A4 cams... I think it may be, and I'm quite sure it's been discussed before on here.

That is an a1/a4 camshaft, those have 3A stamped on the dizzy end, the a6 cam is stamped 4B.
