ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

First things to do to your stock cb7

what are the best things to do to your stock f22 engine
to take it from 20 years old to good as new
    example:

    new plugs
    new belts...

    and so on
    thanks for the tips

Plugs and belts, look at them and do as necessary. Except the timing belt, if you have no idea of its age, do it.

Get a Haynes manual and read the regular maintenance schedule. That should give you good ideas.

If you want your car running like a champ, here are a few things you can do yourself:

      1. Set Ignition Timing
      2. Valve Adjustment
      3. Clean throttle body, replace air filter
      4. Clean IAC Valve
      5. Clean EGR Ports
      6. Replace spark plugs, plug wires
      7. Replace Oxygen Sensor
      8. Fresh Motor Oil

If you decide to do #3, 4,and 5, be sure to properly set your idle. Most of these procedures have guides in the DIY section.

EDIT: Potatoswatter is correct. A shop manual should provide a good maintenance schedule guide.

For a start I would look up your service manual see what a major service entails (a 100,000 km or 60,000 miles service)

        It would include items like:

All fluids (transmission, radiator, brake fluid, engine oil etc).
Timing belt replacement (incl. water pump, front seal, balancer belt, power steer and alternator belts unless you know its still good).
Air Filter check and replacement if required
Spark Plug check and replace if required

        In addition

Check and replace brakes/rotors if required
Check and replace ball joints, suspension bushings if required
        Do wheel alignment etc.

For a newly acquired CB (or any second hand car) I would advise on just focusing on existing repairs first, preventative maintanance second eg. servicing every possible item you can think of and replacing every part that doesnt look healthy (eg. swelling hoses - which we have a ton of under the bonnet, wiper blades, suspension rubbers etc), accessories and mods very very last.

95-JDM-SiR "Transtop" Daytona Edition - Silver
        92-JDM-SiR "Transtop" - Black

        Prelude

91-AUDM-Si-4ws "Cita Lux Edition" - Bordeaux Red Pearl

yea i just changed the oil, spark plugs, trans oil, and minor stuff like that.

i would do the sticky caliper diy if the car was sitting very long. did mines and the brakes are alot better

Filter certainly. But why would you replace the pump?

You didn't know Potato. Because Honda fuel pumps go out about every 250,000 miles. You can never be too careful.

he's talking about getting his mecanic/car to run like a new not to go over a swap. And personaly i think this is a noobish answer, get problems fixed before going on major change. A nice looking car with a good motor but with bad brakes, suspensions and direction = dangerous as fuck!

Why would you have to set idle properly when cleaning the throttle body, IAC Valve, and EGR ports?

                        Thanks.

What about cleaning the fuel injectors? Would this be advisable?

                          Thanks.

What bushings should be changed? Please list so I can check and change them. Wheel bearings, unless they are bad, would you change them before they are going bad?
