ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

I would like to build a Traction Control System

First off, I'm pretty sure what I want to build Is a traction control system. But it might be a "Stability System". Since I am unsure of the difference, I will use them interchangeably.

Anyway, My goal is to fix my abs(hopefully a sensor) and put an additional computer in my car to interface with my abs computers and sensors. This additional computer will work in harmony with my abs to provide additional stopping power. Think newer cars have abs AND Traction. Since Our cars only have abs, I want to engineer the additional piece. Anywho, the abs releases the brakes, which I am fairly sure is the basis for traction control. My additional computer will monitor the speed sensors (maybe gyros later on) and make its own decisions to apply the brakes.
So, I need help with finding interfaces to the abs and speed sensors. Has anybody done this before? Any information regarding abs/traction control would be greatly appreciated!

P.s. I know most of you hate abs and it breaks all the time. I want to do this partially to make my car safer and possibly add it to my resume later on.

Yep, I'm that amazing. I asked this question on yahoo answers awhile ago, but didn't get any help. That's actually the reason I joined this site.

If anybody wants me to describe it(this project) in more detail, let me know

Also, its a 93 Honda accord. 10th anniversary edition. I just recently bled the brakes and replaced the master cylinder. I sucked out the abs fluid(I had extra brake fluid) and replaced the fluid. Since them my abs light, which always came on right away, has decided to come on at higher speeds. Sometimes I can get it up to 80 before it comes on. Any ideas on fixing it?

Thanks anyway. Do you know of anybody making their own tcs?

All i can say is, it would involve more sensors and solinoids in your tranny and reprogram your computer, or add an electronic control mechanism, the other option would be to install an lsd tranny eather 5spd or auto, or you can install an lsd diff for drag racing i have come across some of these they range around $1500. LSD would be your best bet so when your wheel wants to start spinning your differential will apply an even load to both wheels

I was thinking mostly electronic control mechanism, Ie additional computer interacting and controlling the abs computers. I think that modifying the trans in the way your thinking of would fall more into the "Stability systems" distributing power to prevent burnouts. It would be helpful with a limited slip diff, but I was looking for more in the way of stopping power.

No offense... but even IF you do build a traction control system, it will PROBABLY function only if you try to drive on ice or drive like a maniac in heavy rain. I mean how often do you get wheel spin when driving a stock Accord (clutch dumps don't count)?

                      Its an automatic...
This was inspired when driving in a blizzard last year. I drove to a town an hour away, the whole time keeping enormous distances between me and the car in front of me. After I got there (and let the stress of sliding into the cars around me die down) my buddy and I hopped into his 03ish grand prix. He purposely slammed on the brakes at every intersection and gunned it whenever he could. That incident combined with others where I almost hit things due to me sliding, made me want to build this.

Idk man. I think it is going to take a lot more then just some sensors.

Where are you intending to aquire a computer from?

You have to take into account the many systems that tcs effect or communicate with to do their job appropriately, not to mention safely.

Systems like that that are found in cars like Audis for example monitor 1000s of processes hundres of times a minute.

Good luck though I will be following your progress. This would be the first of its kind for our platform.

GEOFF you need to come up with a way where the tranny can drive one wheel at a time that is what traction control does i remember in my old saturn when i would stomp on the gas in the rain the wheels would alternate spinning every half second
