ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

did you read any of the posts?

    Just curious.

    What came first

Deev, what you said about ignition cut coming first makes total sense.

I wasn't thinking well and spaced the days when carbs ruled the world(as they still do in some racing).

sorry for the misinfo, and thanks for correcting.

The initial question is no different than the kids that get passed by a turbo something-or-other and hear that BOV sound... and want that sound, not knowing what it is or what's happening to make it.

    this.

probably not the best way to go about it. doesn't sound to me like a good enough reason, in other words, launch control or anti lag is good for a modded car, turbo or built otherwise applications. i wouldn't recommend it on a stock engine. do some research, or talk to someone with a setup who has a proper tune. it's implemented for specifics, "sounding cool" imo is not the right mindset to just plunge into something you should probably read up about/experience for yourself. don't lean out your engine unless it's *propoerly* tuned as a supporting add-on, for such.

Anti-lag was first used (and is most commonly used) in rally racing, I believe.

    2 step

    what deev said was correct.

when launch control was first being used people used only fuel cut. Like deev mentioned this type is everywhere and easy to control using ecu tuning software.

The 2 step people talk about is the ignition cut system designed and sold by MSD that they named 2 step. After that the tuning community started calling all ignition cut systems a 2 step.

    So the naming convention went

    1 step: fuel cut
    2 step: ignition cut
3 step: ignition and fuel cut

the systems which like bisi's (second video) is called anti lag, it is used by individuals with large, or hard to spool turbos to help spool them earlier, or before launching for a drag race.

to do this the ignition is retarded to the point where the flash front from the combustion of the air/fuel mixture happens while the exhaust valve is open (very late) this send the flash front down manifold and creates a strong pressure wave which helps spool the turbo. This is bad for valves, but is a sacrifice that turbo guys are willing to make for spooling off the line. This can also be used between gears.

I do not know why people in our community would buy a separate module when so many tuning programs with emulators, and stand alone that can run 3 step / anti lag without add ons.

Anyway most people just run fuel cut for launch control.

I started running three step when I switched to neptune, its nice, but I think it is sort of hard on the coil, as I burned up an mds blaster 2 in less than a year.

    who knows

poor tuning or anti-lag... which is basically intentional detonation in the exhaust manifold, before the turbo.

Fireballs are excess fuel being shot into the exhaust....so poor tuning basically. Shooting flames is never a good thing except that it looks awesome.

I can hold my engine at 3500rpm at idle, launch, and then drive normally. HOWEVER, these fuel-cut types can be harmful, especially if overused. When the fuel cuts, your engine is running lean. That can lead to detonation, which can quickly destroy an engine.

The other type is the spark-cut. It cuts the spark, rather than the fuel. These systems are often external (MSD makes one), so they can get expensive to add just that one feature. (unlike the fuel cut, which does require a tunable ECU, and the tools and knowledge to tune it... but that encompasses far more than JUST the two-step feature!) A spark cut is a bit safer, since you're not igniting a lean mixture. The biggest threat here is overfueling, which could cause bogging, damage to the o2 sensor and catalytic converter, or in an extreme case: hydrolock (though if you're dumping enough fuel and bouncing off the spark-cut long enough to do that, you deserve what you get!)

I'm sure there are systems out there that integrate the two, and that would be ideal. Again, that would also be the most difficult and expensive.

If a car is spitting fireballs and making all sorts of backfire noises, that means 1 of two things... either they are tuned VERY poorly... or they are running an anti-lag system (do a search for that... lots of info on it, and it's for serious race-built turbo cars only... or for idiots that like to damage their expensive engine and turbo by showing off on the street...)
I was always told the fireballs are from the catalytic converter being removed and only a high flow exhaust was installed. The fireballs happened because the lag in fuel injection system when you put clutch in to shift which cause RPM's to drop and it feeds increased amount of fuel but it doesn't all get burned and some is spit out exhaust as fireball.

Exactly. The R35 GT-R has launch control built in (or it did... they may have removed it, or hidden it at least.) It makes for a MUCH faster launch, since it is properly set up for the vehicle... but it also puts a pretty good strain on all the parts... Then again, you don't set up a car for racing without expecting to abuse it!

Its not a band-aid lol. It makes the car launch faster. A proper launch control system will integrate into the traction control system for a launch speed faster than you can even think about repeating manually.

1 ran off the ecu, ull need a chippable ecu, like a p06.. From a eg civic.

And the other if thru msd igntion system, which that there starts 2 get expensive, something that cost so much for a dd that is not modified.

Ya it sounds cool and all, I don't have no crazy mods but imagine pullin up 2 some 1 with a your quiet muffler, and open the exhuast cut out valve with a 2 step, that will b funny shit.

2 step is for accurate lauching, but my foot can hold the rpms just fine, if I can afford a 2step I would get 1, only iffff I at least had modded head or cam, something that will give me known power!

Do wat u want friend. Everyone on here has there own answers.
Lol this is why i want one is just cause it will sound like a gun shot when i hit the rev limiter
