ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

    F22a Head and ECU Code

I am new to CB7s, I just got a 90 with a F22a, but i am trying to verify what it is. The head code reads pt3 ue-9. And the ecu in the car is pt3-a22. The motor appears to have a standard A1 intake tho, no butterflies or middle spacer part.

Also looking how to id the trans. Its a 5 speed. Ive googled the crap outta the codes and came up with very little info.

    Any help is appreciated. Ty

Transmission should have a sticker on it. http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=71964

The portion of the block in the front left of the bay (the rear left of the block) by the transmission should have a flat surface with the engine code stamped into it.

Cool, solves the trans code lol Any info on head codes and such? So easy to find for other honda engines.

        All F22A heads are stamped "PT3". The F22A1 and F22A4 ECU is PT3, F22A6 is PT6.
F22A4 is in the USDM 90-91 EX, F22A6 is in the USDM 91 and 93 SE, and 92-93 EX.

The engine code itself is stamped to the left of the exhaust manifold.

Im trying to verify the head, im suspicious cause the standard a1 style intake mani and ecu. Im assuming the dif in the heads, say jdm f22a vs a1, is the cam?

So if someone just swapped inthe f22a shortblock with the old A1 head/topend, is basiclly just a A1 then. It does have the 'tri-Y' exhaust mani tho, which according to my research is from the jdm motor.

The JDM engine should essentially be equivalent to our F22A6. The head itself is identical throughout the model range, so it doesn't matter one way or another... and the casting marks will be the same. It's possible that the intake manifold was retained when the engine was swapped. Perhaps the F22A didn't come with the intake manifold, or the person that did the swap wasn't sure if everything would match up, and swapped manifolds to be safe.

Somewhere on here, there's a thread showing how to tell the F22A6 camshaft from the F22A1/4 camshaft. I forget how myself, as I haven't had an F22A under my hood in a decade.

What does the engine code plate say? Why do you think the engine was swapped? Read the plate first...

Its a 90 ex with a f22a, not 1,4,6. Supposed to be a jdm motor, im trying to verify if i got a head with a f22a/a6 cam or a1/a4 cam.

Yeah, I got it now. Sorry for my confusion. SOHC-FTW and Granite CB7 have hot you covered on the camshaft. Mark the distributor and the camshaft cap and pull the distributor. The end of the camshaft is marked as described.
