ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

removing heat shield over exhaust pipe

any way to do this without removing the exhasut pipe itself? i got the two side bolts off no problem. it's that center one right above the pipe that is a pain in the butt.

i'm removing it so i can change my parking brake cables.

    thanks in advance!

It would be a lot easier in the long run if you removed the sections of pipe that are in your way, what's a couple more bolts?

yeah that's what i figured. was wondering if someone had some magic trick they'd be willing to share. it's rusted pretty badly, so i'll tread carefully.

hum, I just removed mine.. and the middle screw was not attached to it.
(it was there but there was a hole in the shield to let it pass) I think the shield might be stuck under the ac/alternator mount.

Or maybe mine was just too rusty...

if you need to remove the manifold, might be a good timing to clean/switch gaskets

        have fun

I'm not a huge fan of those shields, I removed all of them w/ the exhaust fully intact, it is possible. I think a few times I used tin snips to get them out but you should be able to wrestle them out, that's if you plan to not put them back in!

guess i didn't explain myself well enough. the pipe is rusted out pretty bad, especially where the bolts are- near the muffler (it's original). guess i'll try and drop it down by removing the whole thing from the rubber holdings.

I was trying to take this off my self as well today, got all the bolts out easily with a lil pb blaster but I couldn't wiggle it out. Looks like the power steering/alternator bracket piece is in the way, so is my ac line.
