92 prelude shifter swap

So I have read the thread about different short throw shifters and I don't really think it's descriptive enough. What exactly do I need to do to make this 92 prelude shifter work properly in my 91 LX?

Best option is to run the base plate and shift lever from the Prelude. The Prelude plate sits the lever further down due to the one piece design of it. The Accord base plate is two piece with the lever mounted higher up.

The Prelude base plate bolt pattern is slightly different so make sure you get all four mounting bolts threaded into the chassis before tightening any of them down.

In my experience, it has been just how apalileo suggested. As if the distance between the forward and rearward holes was just slightly different.

Yes the spacing is slighty different, so use short bolts and washers to attach it to the floor. Will improve shift feel 100% as the shifter will be solid mounted as opposed to the OEM rubber isolation bushings.

Can you do the same with a factory CB7 shifter and have the same effect?

Sure it's worth a shot. I believe someone on here machined a set of solid aluminum bushings to replace the rubber, but that was a one off.

It wasn't a one-off, but I can't remember the company that makes the standoffs. They also make the solid shifter bushings.

Shayspec makes the solid mounts but I've honestly always bolted the plate directly to the chassis like accrdwgnguy mentioned. I really like the 92-96 prelude shifter w/ the matching plate but 2 of the 4 holes don't line up very well, so not using the mounts is almost a must. I don't think the solid mounts + prelude plate would work b/c you have room for adjustment to where the bolts can go.

When I tried this I was not liking the gear engagement either. Seemed forceful and "sketchy".

Looks nice, not sure how necessary these pieces would be. I really liked the shifting with the Prelude shifter bolted directly to the floor. Felt very solid.

I used the Prelude shifter base and all. if you want to retain the rubber mounting system, all you need to do is use a uni-bit/step bit and open up the rear of front holes on the base plate and viola.
