Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    breather filter

    why do people put the breather filter on the valve cover, is there some sort of gain from it?

      The idea is so that you dont have the hose going from the valve cover to the intake. Then you have oil in your intake which is just more crap in your manifold. Also it looks cool.
      No longer working on the cb. To much time and money has been put into it. Check my for sale thread where the whole car will be parted out.

        There's not really a gain BUT it will keep your t/b and IM cleaner. It's usu. used to replace the valve cover breather line that goes to the intake pipe. If you've noticed, it leaves a coating of oil on the t/b and IM. So, I used the breather to rid of the breather line and also put an oil catch can on the PCV line (check out the DIY section), then you will be oil vapor free

          IMO, those breather filters are for show.
          They will eventually be covered in oil, or oil vapor deposits...
          The crankcase, or valve cover holds extreme pressure...that filter really collects the oil vapor and the air is then emmited into the engine bay.

          Those oil catch cans are a better idea...on ebay for like $30.USD...at least that has a return that goes into the catch can, then the cleaned air circulates back into the intake...

            imho bad idea

            oh and expect your hyrocarbons to go up!..plus a nice film of oil in your engine bay. i honestly dont care for the *** filter. get an oil catch can if your worried.

              An oil catch can works 100x better than a breather filter the only thing is that its more expensive.

                  Sounds like most are using the filter instead of the a PCV.

                  Oops. No wonder it doesn't work!

                    im agaisnt the breather filter...honda didnt use one so why would anyone? i would go on about why i am against them but i have so many times before...if your that interested....search.

                      To verfiy. you dont use the breather filter instead of the pcv system, then you use a catch can. the filter you use is just for the hose that goes to the intake pipe. Really not enough oil to make your car look like a mess but enough to make you tb look like crap. I have been running breathers for a while and they stayed perfectly clean. Only downside is they do have a little hissing sound come out from them.

                          i would think that there might be a slight drop in intake air temp... and if im not mistaken that is suppose to be good... but ive been wrong before

                              Can you explain this further? I'm not sure I understand you

                              Well, I didn't want to run 2 catch cans, a catch can on the VC breather line isn't really imperative compared to a catch can on the PCV. Using a VC breather is just another way to rid of oil vapors and use 1 catch can instead of 2. I keep mine very clean, which some people neglect to do sometimes!
