    ATK Engines remanufactured F22A6

First post here, I was just wondering if anybody has purchased one of these motors from Jeggs. I'm looking to get either a '92 or '93 EX Coupe 5 spd and swap the motor out for one of these, plus do a few other things (cam, turbo kit) I'd have to take all the intake stuff off the F22A6 in the car and put it on the replacement motor. It has the PT3 head which iirc comes with the F22A6. Any info is greatly appreciated.

I'd be curious too. But I know one thing, if I bought a re-manufactured engine I would not mod it for performance until I ran if for a few months to prove it isn't a dud.

Odd I just looked at the jegs website and all I found was a re-man cylinder head, not a whole long block.

From what I can tell, I would have to buy the F22A from ATK, remove the A6 intake components and anything else from the F22A6 that I would have to swap over. Then ship the current engine to ATK due to the "core charge". I'll have to do more research on this whole thing. By the way, any advice on what the first thing to go on a remanufactured motor would be? (stock no mods if smth did go wron)

I'm also looking for a new engine after cooking mine at the race last weekend. So I did some searches about ATK reman engines. I didn't find anything that was encouraging. I will NOT be going that route. I suggest you do some googling about ATK rebuilt motors. I honestly think you'd be better off with an 200,000 mile motor you pulled from a pick-n-pull or similar. Or maybe it is time for you to consider a low mileage H22 swap from one the the JDM resellers. That is what I am looking into. That, and I found a prelude locally with lots of crash damage and a blacktop h22a for sale for cheap. I might buy that just for the engine. At least that way I'd know that I could get every part from the block, to the wiring harness to the ecu for my swap.

I've heard mixed things about their quality, some people have had motors blow up quickly while others have lasted. Now I just have to decide if I want a 1-200,000 mile motor or something that could possibly go south. I've also heard mixed reviews about their warranties, some has positive things to say while others say ATK didn't stand by their word.

I've heard mixed reviews of most of the places that do reman engines. I think it makes sense if it's getting done at a shop and they can go through the whole sending it back if its not perfect process for you but if you're doing a DIY swap if something goes wrong it's going to be a much bigger headache. The other upside of getting a pick and pull engine is it will come with all the bits that you would otherwise have to swap over and you'll have a decent amount of backup parts. Given the price difference between used engines in my area and the ATK i'd chance it on a used engine or two.

Now I've got a decision on my hands... I'll probably have a mechanic do the whole swap, but I don't have the money to be spending on a few used engines so I've got to make a choice.
