ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

Are you running your original AC system?

I was just wondering how many of your are running your original AC system with the original type of refrigerant? I think this is R-12?

I am using my original system, but am beginning to wonder if I am going to able to get it fixed w/o converting to R-134.

What have the rest of you done?

im pretty sure im still running r-12. i had it refilled/recharged before i left for AZ and i dont remember if i had them do the conversion or not. I know r-12 is OEM, but theres lots of stuff about how its bad for the environment, etc etc

Converted to 134a. Basically whole system even got a 134a compressor. Blows pretty damn cold other than the leak i found.

does converting to 13a necesarrily make it any colder or better

Mine still blows pretty cold. Not REAL cold, but once i get going, and if its hot enough outside, its better than no A/C.

                  Thanks Guys.

FYI R-134A is not as efficient at removing heat as R-12. I believe most new design R-134A systems have larger condensers? Anybody confirm this?

My AC has been running nicely since a major repair (microscopic condenser leak) back in 1998. Not bad at all except it went out in Arkansas while moving from Vermont to Arizona in July. There was a heat wave in the central plains states at the time. My whole seat was soaked, and took a couple of Arizona days to dry out. Yuck..

NO. 134A system will run equal to an r12 system if done properly. Both are only a few degrees off and really not enough to really give a crap about. 2-5 degree difference is not much. So all this 134a is inefficient blah blah blah its nothing. Mine blew cold as shit when I replaced mine then it all leaked out need to recharge when I get back into town and fix that oring on the drier.

Could you put a bigger condenser? And would it be with it?

My a/c is out and I think it just needs to be charged, and I was wondering if any of you guys have used freeze 12. Trying to figure out if I should convert to 134a or just try this freeze 12 stuff.
