    'tha ish' antenna

    okay, so here's the deal. i've gone through two of the factory motorized antennas in the past three years. the first one (probably origninal) was just bowed from highway driving and make the infamous "takka takka takka" sound. i replaced the mast, and everything was fine, no more "takka takka takka," or anything. that is until one winter trip when the trunk antenna sensor quit working (got frozen) and my girlfriend went to get something out of the trunk, and didn't notice that the antenna was still up. when she closed the lid, the antenna caught on the spoiler and snapped like a chopstick in the silverware tray of a dishwasher.

    :::dude, get to the point:::

    so i'm looking for an aftermarket antenna. but it has to meet two criteria: 1) i want an amplified am/fm antenna. on road trips i like to listen to AM talk radio (i'm a total nerd ) and the crap rubber job i have right now gets, well, crap for reception. 2) it has to be *sexy*. i want it to look good on the car (i.e. probably no floppy rubbery jobs, and nothing that looks like a bent up coathanger).

    where can i find an antenna that is "tha ish"?

    I am also in the same dilemma. I shaved off my antenna cuz I did not feel like paying for a new mast every time it broke. right now I have some of the tv antenna wire stuff between the headliner and the roof. It worked great when I put it up there but it doesnt work as good now...still works better than nothing. I have not had time to try it, but I was thinking...what if I just stripped a little away from the heating grid on the back window, and put it to that, seems like it may work. Not sure what would happen when I turn on the rear defrost button...but ya gotta learn somehow. But if you wanted to you could always do the s2000 antenna in the middle above the rear window.

      hmm.. s2000 antenna on the roof? i don't know. i'm really picky about maintaining a fairly stock appearance, and anyway i'd be weary of putting a hole in my roof. i mean i know you'd seal it, but a hole in the roof? i suppose putting it in the standard antenna location wouldn't be that bad. thought it would flow with the body at all, i'd bet (s2000 antenna is swept backward). its an idea though.

      anyone else?

        i think the s2000 antenna looks way better in the same spot as the original antenna...

          Easy Answer

          Go to Crutchfield and go to the left side of the screen until you see what fits my car. Put your Year and model in and it will tell you the exact one to get. It also sends free instructions and wire adapter. When my antenna went out I knew nothin about mobile electronics and I didnt have any problem replacing it. Now it works great and I have no problems.

                  I had the same problem with my power antenna, so instead of not having a radio and having to look at the antenna stub, I just decided to shave the hole and went to Advance Auto Parts and picked up a windsheild antenna for about $15, and it works great too.---Jay
