Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

NAKED engine bay and other goodies (56k no no)

Spent some time cleaning out the engine bay over the weekend and did a few other things. The engine bay is about as naked as it possibly can be and still have a fuctional motor.

    Changes to the car:
stripped the engine bay (P/S removed)
    removed EVAP emission items
Megan racing adj. cam gear installed and advanced 2deg.
reduced FPR from 50PSI to 48PSI
    wider 205 tires installed upfront
oil change (trans oil too )

Here's some before pics (sorry for the crappy quality):

    And the finnished product:

    .......drum roll...........

These pictures really do not do the work justice. It is completely naked under the hood and it looks great! TONS of working room too I will take some pictures durring the day with good lighting and that should give you a better idea. Thoughts? Questions?

very nice. I have always wanted to do this, but never the spare time to do it. One day I might end up doing it for the majority of stuff, but we'll see.

All of the main wiring (passenger side shock tower) did you just run that at the bottom, or is it also on the other side of the fender?

            but does look very great.

You're not far now!!! just re-run those wires out of sight and relocate a bunch of shit to behind the dash And the only difference I notice are due to the cam gear install and slight fuel pressure change....BTW, the steering is great without P/S!!!! Even with wider tires!

I ran them straight back. They are underneath and behind the shift cable bracket and run straight to the firewall where the heatercore connections used to run through.

              Thanks for the compliments guys!

Cool, and on the passenger side, im guessing that is run behind the fender? Had I not had 18,000 projects going before, I really wanted to do this last time I had the motor out. but seeing the result, I might do it sometime later this year after I get done messing with my bike.

Edit, by the way, yours looks so great, that I am tempted to go do mine now

I think I will do the drivers side sometime soon just because I have always wanted to, and drivers side is mucho easy.

na, the pass. side got re-run through the heater core holes.......the driver side just got re-run below the brake booster and out of sight. The F.I. resistor pack got bolted to the firewall to the right of the clutch cyl. The rest of the wiring got re-routed behind the fenders up to the headlights, horns, and other crap that I removed long ago like the A/C compressor, washer fluid pump, cruise, etc.... I had to extend all of the light wires to reach the lights. I cut a lot of the un-used wires out of the harness to make running them easier and cut down on weight. The fusebox is now behind the dash where the heatercore and dash venting used to be. MAP sesnsor is also behind the dash now as well. EVAP purge solenoid and other emissions crap removed. I did other stuff but it's not coming to me now....just ask if you have any questions.

i understand that you removed the evap shit but do u have a check engine light? i was wondering about this shit too but just want to make sure. why do u lower the fuel pressure from 50-48psi? looks sweet

Stock FP is 42-45 PSI for this motor. I don't have any big power adders that demand a lot of fuel flow. I only want the benefits of better atomization and have no desire to run extremely rich so 48 is a better PSI for my purposes. I may even drop it another PSI or two. At 50, I can smell the unburned gas in the exhaust which also means a little loss in power

No CEL's whatsoever. Stock P0A ECU. EGR and other devices will be removed when the modded P28 goes in.

Out of curisoity (manly because I want to ditch it too,) how does the car idle without any of the black emissions box? No codes?
