Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    warming up and cooling down

jus wondering what you guys do, do you jus hop in the car and go or do you let it warm up a bit and how long do you let it cool down after driving. Ive got a blitz turbo timer but the instructions are in japanes so its taking me awhile to figure it out...lol but like i said jus curious as to what other turbo cb7 are doin cause i want to take as good of care of my turbo as possible

as for warming up i let it get off cold before i get into it, and for cooling down i leave my timer on 2 to 3 mins for around town and up to 5 to 7 mins if ive really been getting on it. I dont think you can leave it on too long the better it cools the longer the life of the turbo. Or at least thats what i understand.

warming up- I let it sit till the idle stops bouncing around

cooling down- 2 min normal driving(which is never) OR 4 min after racing
      Shift_BOOST

      BOOM!

i don't have a boosted car currently but have in the past. but regardless of boosted or not i have treated every car i have owned the same way on warm up. a little depends on the car as some idle high when cold and some don't. either way I always let them run a little before ever putting the engine under load(before i leave my parking space basicaly). for example my jeep doens't really idle high so i jsut wait for the temp needle to start moving. my accord i wait til the idle gets down to at least 1300(usualy starts around 1800 and creeps down). at say 40 degrees outside this is about 3-4 minutes for either vehicle....takes longer when real cold out and shorter when hot out. then I pretty much baby them til they are up to full operating temp. and are there for a little bit jsut to make sure everything is nice and warm. jsut cuz the combustion chambers has heated the water according to the guage doens't mean the bottom end is hot!! neither vehicle sees over 2000rpm til then. some might think it's anal but it has worked for me and i've had pretty good luck with it....no major engine failures and way more miles than most out of my engines. sold my 96 camaro 2 months ago with 191K on the original LT1.....and trust me it was not babied after it was warmed up!! also had a 4 runner that now has 225k on it, wifes van has 170K, jeep has 146K. gotta be nice to them engines when they are cold!!

It's the ecu, and for some reason I can't adjust it. It idles too rich, I'll lean it out, and it won't start. It bounces from 1000-2500, no leaks, no CEL, nothings wrong, just the way it is. That's only on a cold idle, warm idles pretty good, I'm sure I could fix it by switching to UD 1.7, but it works so I'm not complaining.
