Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

I have not monitored the egt's but I have taken many precautions to keep as much heat in the pipe as possible. I think this is it though, all the affordable power is extracted. Not bad though, time to go into the motor and drop in a bigger cam.

Hmmmm. Curious what your egts are. The magic is in the gas temps, I'm telling you guys. Not suggesting that there is more power to be had with your setup, just that the magic happens from the heat and speed of the exhaust. Nobody really has been logging egts that runs a bisi header that I have found anyways.

For sure though, the scavenging magic has a relationship with egts.

I am very aware of the thermal dynamics of the exhaust system, its probably one of the key ingredients to my successful mixes.

well hope he doesn't have a stock block, those rings on e85 are gunna lose compression quickly!

Actually I wasn't bitching, you guys took it wrong. I was saying not to give me credit for something I wasn't yet. It wouldn't make sense to congratulate someone on getting aom before it was announced would it? Also stock f23 rings are just fine on e85. I apologize if I gave the wrong impression.

No worries, no one is getting mad,
Great numbers on the single jingle!!!

May I ask what leads you to believe
The stock rings are fine for e85?

Rings have different clearances for fuel.
We have noticed based off of:
                          H23 VTEC stock using FTW
                          H22 stock using E85
                          A major compression loss.
Our determining factors was at first
The balance shaft delete kit, but factored
That into more potential that different fuels
                          Need different ring clearances!

And it is a full blown racecar!

We actually use toluene mixed with e85 and it seems to do fine. Also the frm cylinder walls are more abrasive than you would think. The f23 stock piston also has the ringlands ever so slightly lower on the piston than h-series. I don't know why honda did it but they did.

cool, I hope you don't experience the same issues we did.

But its all trial and error at this point ya know.

Are you certain its the rings? Are the cylinders washed out? Is air passing the rings? Can you hear it in the dipstick?

What exactly are you dealing with that makes you think the rings themselves are the issue? Just curious. I run e85 on several engines and haven't had any issues related to rings. I have also built dozens of engines, so, maybe I can help troubleshoot? I have had lots of other issues, but nothing related to rings.

If you'd like to take the conversation pm thats cool. Just curious what you are dealing with.
