Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    Exhaust Setup - 1 or 2 Resonator Help - WS2 70mm, 2.5" piping.

This is for my soon to be swapped in H22a daily driver. (not going 3" exhaust cause of noise)

    PIPING and MUFFLER:
I'm about to order the Accord 2.5" piping kit from Kteller and a the universal 70mm Apexi WS2 muffler.

    CATALYTIC COVNVERTER
I will probably go with a Universal 2.5" Magnaflow Catalytic Converter, Looking at model 91006.

Does Metallic or Ceramic really matter? I'm in Colorado, so I do have emissions.

    RESONATOR:
I'm looking at the 18" Vibrant resonator. Will this be enough to have a nice sounding exhaust that is not too loud? Or should I add another 12" resonator?

I'm assuming the 18" resonator will have to fit in the straight section after the catalytic converter.

What do you think, Should i add the second resonator or use a different resonator all together?

    Thanks,
    Josh

Bigger piping doesn't always equate to more noise, especially with components like a cat and resonators that you've already stated you intend to run. Parts do however become more expensive as you move up in size, and depending upon your goals, may not be necessary.

Have you considered ordering your piping from Mandrel-Bends.com? I purchased 3" piping from turbo to tip for about $145 shipped to my door.

Both metal and ceramic cats offered by Magnaflow will be 49-state legal. The difference between metal and ceramic is described below in a Q&A with a Magnaflow rep.

The representative informed me that the metallic catalytic converters, like part # MF59956 are a bit stronger and would be good for applications where the catalytic converter is close to the header as they can handle more heat. The metallic ones are usually used on OBD1 applications.

The ceramic catalytic converters, such as part # MF99659HM, are not as strong and usually do not last as long as metallic substrate converters. Typically the ceramic converters are used on OBDII vehicles.
If you are interested in the metal spun variant, I have a 2.5" model (part# 59956) brand new in the box that I could offer you for a similar price as the 91006 you're looking at.

I had a Vibrant's Ultra-quiet resonator, and two of their 18" bottle style resonators on my Accord a while back. I did some swapping around one day, and I can assure you that the Ultra-quiet model is easily as effective as both of the 18" bottle resonators, if not moreso. If you can fit the Ultra-quiet's canister design in your setup, I would choose that hands down.

Just stay away from the glasspacks if you wanna be quiet… I gotta 2.5" exhaust, cat, 24" (or whayever the longedt one is) cherrybomb glasspack n 2 oval straight through magnaflow mufflers(duals) and it's loud til it warms up n raspy during take off but it's a nice tone while cruising and sounds like a v6 at idle. I'm changing out the glasspack for maybe a mid muffler or a vibrant super quiet resonator later when the funds come up cuz I don't like the rasp during takeoff and I'm sure the neighbours like it when I warm my car up at like 4am. Lol
