    NON ABS to ABS

Ok guys hear is whats up. Im upgrading my rear brakes to disk brakes thats all fine and good but I would like to have ABS for better braking. I want the best stop possible. Iv got all the parts from my 94 cd5. Now my prob. is the wiring harness. Iv removed the cd5s WHOLE wiring harness but it seems imposable to get the connectors I need w/o cutting the harness up. So what should I do to go about doing this?? Now my other question is what is the big deal w/ removing the ABS? arnt you downgrading in your brake performance?? Is hondas ABS crap or something is that why everyone is removing them??

Anyone's help and or input is much appreciated in advance!

Most people who remove their ABS have a leaking ABS modulator. Even a remanufactored piece costs anywhere for $600-$900. I bought my non-ABS brake lines for $20. Nuff said!

For me, ABS is a crutch. I also don't like launch control, but that's another thread.
I've been driving for over 24 years, and I've never been in a situation where ABS would have helped me. I learned to drive before ABS and all the other computer assist toys were available, so I learned to drive, not pilot it around with the help of a computer. Driving these days is getting easier and easier thanks to technology, but that means it's getting less safe for everyone as well. If you learn to drive with ABS, TCS, blind spot collision warnings, computer controlled parallel parking, laser braking assistance (Lexus and Volvo. Volvo has a system that stops the car if you're going to hit something. Stops the car.), then you don't learn to drive as carefully. There is less concentration, less attention because the car will make up for your lack of skills.

well if the ABS isnt gonna improve much of anything then Im just gonna swap the rear brakes on and leave it @ that. Another ??? Is there something that I can use to control how much braking power goes to the front or rear??

I have ABS on my Ex and I'm not impressed. For the 1st couple months I actually unpluuged my ABS cpu but got tired of the ABS light in my dash so I plugged it back in

ABS on my Bimmer was GREAT tho

Overall, as Poet said above, i've never been a fan of ABS.

Yeah its called a prop valve. If I'm correct you need to get one from off of a 90-93 gsr wit non abs, it's a 40/40 prop valve the ones we got on our cars are 30/30. That should give you a even stop from the front and rear.

That's odd. My ABS light was on due to my modulator being bad. I took out my ABS computer and my ABS light hasn't come on since???

My ABS works fine but if i unplug the computer the passenger side trunk area I do get the ABS on at all times the car is on When I plug the connectors back in, the light goes away.

I think it'd be alot of work but possible to add ABS BUT you should be using CB ABS parts, CD parts will be and are different. In regards to the 4040 Prop. valve, you can use them from a DA, DB, or DC Integra (w/o ABS, 4 whl disk), plenty of sources for those.
