    235-45-17

I found some almost new 235-45-17 tires for a good deal. I have 215-45-17's on now. They fit fine with no issues. The 235-45-17 look a little taller but it might just be me.. My car is lowered.
Will they fit and has anyone ever ran a 235-45-17?
What does the 235 number mean? I think its how tall it is.
If someone knows tire sizes and math can someone tell me how much taller it will be if any and how much my speedo could/will be off. Its dean on now with my 215's

235 is the width of the tire. the middle number is the aspect ratio between the width and the height of the sidewall. the middle number (45 in your case) means the sidewall is 45% of the width of the tire.

so with that said a 235 vs 215 at the same aspect ratio will be a taller tire.

235-45-17 is a factory size for a TL. This size is a little too big for our chassis. i say go with either a 215/45 or a 225/40

I got them. They fit fine but I dont like them because they are so wide they stick out a little to much for my taste.

The first number is the width - second is percentage ratio - third is the tire diameter.

                      I think 235 corresponds to 235 millimeters, 23.5 centimeters, 9.25 inches wide.

                      215 mm, 21.5 cm, 8.464 inches.

                      225 mm, 22.5 cm, 8.858 inches.

A little over 3/8" (more like 2/5") difference in size.

The differences in the two tires in millimeters as followed:

                              Differences
                              Diameter 18mm
                              Circumference 57mm
                              Sidewall 9mm
                              Tread. 20mm

                              That being said, a 235/45/17 is 2.89% larger than a 215/45/17.

Also, the 235 will cause the speedometer to read 62.1 mph when you're actually running 63.9 mph, or 100kph when actually running 102.89kph.

This is.not counting the difference between a 235/45/17 and a factory stock size. So, your speed may already be off.

If you have an Android device I suggest downloading "tyre size calculator" its free and very easy to use and understand.
