    Cheapest H22 Swap Ever!!!

    **UPDATE WITH PICS** [april 1/09]
today i was at the wreckers getting some parts to fix a couple of wrecks at work. as usual i open hoods on all the hondas waiting for the day i see a nice shiny h22 under there. its in a 94 'lude and they only want $500 ($415US) for it. the car has 85K (53,000miles). It should be in my hands within the week.

check this out too... a RHD CRX...

x2 was that CRX hit too? It's a shame that it was brought over just to end up at a junkyard

i don't know about the crx... if its hit or not... ill grab some more pix next time im out there. its a pretty clean shell. would make a neat project if you're into that kinda car.

i didnt get any pix of the 'lude because my phone ran out of space when i was out there. it was a 92-95 model tho. i thought those only came with the f22a1 and the h23. dunno if it was swapped into there too. i'll grab pix next time im out there tho. should be within a couple days.

          parts list

so I'm gonna get a parts list rolling... so I have an idea of what needs to be salvaged off the 'lude at the wreckers before i start this project.

          - prelude engine harness (on engine)
          - some extra wire for the vtec solenoid and other stuff...

          - 5-speed conversion stuff

          Other stuff:
          - H22 timing belt ($71.95)

            Questions:
            1. Should I be doing an H23 timing belt and manual tensioner on it? Which water pump would i be using in that case.
            2. Should i be using the accord alternator or the prelude one... does it make a difference?
            3. Anything else i should know

            1. H22 timing belt just for an H22 even if you go h23 manual tensioner. Water pump is H22 if H22..

            2. Its up to you for the alternator. The accord and prelude are them same, only difference is in the pulley. 5 rib is accord and 6 rib is prelude.

            3. Get the header and downpipe keep that in tact if not you will have to buy another one.

Yeah, that's a great deal. I payed a little more, $600, plus $60 for towing, but I got a complete 5th Gen Prelude for that price!!!

                They are out there...

my engine is coming out of a 4th gen.

another sweet deal!! love it when a plan comes togather. skunk2 IM for 75 bucks. still in teh box. wouldnt clear the firewall in my buddy's civic.

is there any difference between the JDM H22 and a North American one? i'm not sure what this engine is... i would assume north american.

which ecu would be the best to run. i don't want to be flashing ecus just yet... i just want to get 'er runnin first. then we'll play with that stuff.

i believe if my memory serves me right.lol. that there was only like a 10 horsepower difference between north american and jdm h22's but i may be wrong. and yes a p13 ecu is the best man. i tried all the different ecu's and mine ran the best with the p13. since the k-swaps came out i think the prices for h22's and such has started to drop quite a bit. everybody wants the new thing. im going to stick with the f22 for quite awhile unless i find another smoking deal on a h22.
im finally back in a cb7 its like coming home.lol

BTW thanks for all the replies... hopefully this works out for the better. I need to source a tranny and stuff too... i'm doing the 5-speed conversion at the same time. the tranny in the 'lude was kaibosch.
