Engine bogs down when i hit the gas after starting the car
Engine bogs down when i hit the gas after starting the car
right when i start my car before it is warmed up when i hit the gas it bogs down then revs up but after it is warmed up it does not bog down no more. anyone know what the problem might be?
that and why r u reving b4 it is warmed up, seriously, especially if u havn`t owned the engine since it was new, or i mean it isn`t original.. the reason why is because when it is cold things can be scratched cause as soon as u hit the gas it creates heat quickly, i would reccomend against reving a car b4 it is warmed up... and if u start it and it bogs then catches ur revs, like u hit the gas and it bogs right quick then revs then thats normal, only if it sounds like it is ganna die when u hit the gas, hell, my go-ped would bog then catch rev when i would do it and now its dead because someone who was riding it reved it out b4 it was warmed up and blew it, no fun!! i hate people that dont listen, and that thing was ganna get turbo`d to...

that's a load of BS. If you're running synthetic oil you never have to worry about damage on a cold engine. Rev it all you want when cold. He says when the car is cold, when he hit the gas for a second, it'll rev up and then "bog" down to 200-300 rpms. My 91DX does it occasionally and it's in tip top shape.
synthetic, did anyone say anything about oil, nope!! anyways, hey newbie, listen here, reving a engine b4 it warms up is not good, so listen, ya he might rev it up while it is cold, but it isn`t advized, ur not supposed to rev it because u can cause scaring in cylinders and such, also, so lemme think.... um ok, herer... should u rev up ur car when it is freezing outside, nope, if it is soo cold then u shouldn`t cause the rapid heat gain can make u crack a block, that is why we have antifreeze to level out heat ranges, cause the water wont freeze and such, so if a rapid heat gain can hurt a motor then u should kno enough to not rev a cold engine, why dotn u think u r supposed to rev past a certain point or percent of throttle when u r breaking in a motor, heat! and u know what, synthetic oils are better at retaining u from getting thermal break down, anyways back to what i was saying, it isn`t smart to rev a cold engine cause over time u can hurt stuff... and another thing.. if u think synthetic oils are the cure for that stuff then u r sadly mistaken because i have seen the quakerstate civic spin a bearing on synthetic oil.. so u mean to tell me synthetic oil makes ok to rev a engine, well obviously it isn`t if u can spin a bearing on synthetic oil... it happens from oil starvation, so lemme think, u rev a engine and it is cold... hmm, ok, so u have cold oil that is thick and such and u rev up, there goes ur oil starvation.... and there goes ur motor, now it is different if u r barely tapping the gas but not revving the motor.. so shut the fuck up and leave this thread u dont know what ur talking about....

hmm. thats funny because in his post it says he hits the gas and it bogs then revs, not the other way around... and u know why this happens... because the charge temps in the cylinders are to cold to explode all of the gas... so u say one way when what is happening is a different way...
well im not stupid i know not to rev the engine before its warmed up. it takes a few times to start but once its started it runs ruff and bogging down then it goes up to 1000 rpm. and then after it runs for a min i tap the gas and it bogs down for a couple sec then revs but after it is warmed up it doesnt do anyof this. IM NOT REVING THE ENGINE WHEN ITS COLD IM JUST TAPING THE GAS!!! I also have another question about the map sensor when you do the swap my engine came with a broken one so i dont have one one the car besides the one that was on my car inside that black box on the firewall. but in everyone in the info. ive looked up says put the map sensor or the firewall somewhere with the prelude evap canister. could someone give me some info about this.
yeah i dont think my map sensor is hooked up. i havent drove my car yet cause it is not done yet i just start it. so what should i do about this map sensor? where does it go? AND WHAT IS SEAFOAM?

Holy shit...are you kidding? You don't have everything hooked up properly and yet you attempted to start and rev your engine? The Map sensor is one of the most important sensors in the ECU's arsonal. I'm with Wed3k..you need to search the forum and in a hurry before you ask another question....
Seafoam is just a flamable liquid that you can pour anywhere in the engine, i like to pour it in the intake mani, but it'll tell you on the can. It just gets rid of old dirt and grime thats built up over time. And lots and lots of white smoke from the tailpipe when you pour it in is a good thing. And remeber to have two people when you do this, one to pour, and the other to keep the engine reving at around 2-4 rpm's so it doesn't die.
