    Rear brake lines

    Good day everyone. In the near future I plan on replacing all my brake lines with stainless steel lines along with doing a ROH conversion. I just received my lines from Technafit, but I only received two copper gaskets for the rear lines. Rear drums on my car (91 EX). I received four copper gaskets for the front.

    Do I need to find two more copper gaskets for the rear or are only two needed?

    Do I need to remove the drum and shoes to replace the lines and get access to the wheel cyclinder?

    Any other tips you guys can think of?

    I have ABS and disc's but if the drums have a banjo bolt youll need 2 sandwiching the banjo fitting, you might be able to get away with reusing them (although not recommended It can be done if theyre not mushroomed/deformed)

    I wouldnt think youll need to take off the brake hardware to get to backside of the wheel cylinder..youll have to look

    One tip is get a little wire brush and PB blaster and spray and clean the hardline to rubber fittings so you dont have problems. flare nut wrenchs are highly recommended you dont want to round off that fitting or youre SOL. Mine took a considerable amount of torque before it cracked then it backed out easily. reassembling you dont have to torque the shit outta them just good and tight. Same with the banjo bolts good and tight, itll feel like you can keep wrenching on it but dont do that or you could snap the head off the bolt which is easy to do. test fit the run and way the lines go before you tighten everything down. tighten all the fittings first then do the banjo bolts last. if you have 2 SS lines for the rear, if you have ABS, be wary of the hardline between the 2 rubber lines itll most likely be crusty and may break on you, they have 20" premade lines at autobone, the stock is 16" with all the crazy bends

      Thanks for the help! With drum brakes on mine, I hope the job ends up easier as only one "soft" line needs replacing.

      PB blaster and proper line wrenches are a must! Do you remember what size wrenches you used to remove the soft lines from the hard lines?

        theres a little C-clip holding the soft lines to brackets coming off the car,other than that a 10 millimeter flare wrench


        Break the connector free before you take off the C-clip though, or youll have to use some vise-grips to hold it..oh and youre welcome
