    DIY Amber bumper lights.

Well I just did this today I am very pleased with the results.

    Things you will need
    - Orange Sharpie and clear vinyl tape.

    1) Take off the bumper lights and give them a good cleaning. I used alchohol.

    2) Color the lens with the orange Sharpie in long smooth strokes.

    3) Let dry and go over any spots you may have missed and let dry again.

    4) Update, The last step is to buy some clear vynal tape and cover the lens so it wont fade.

Thats it. When your done you should have something that looks like this.

I waited a couple of hours before i put them on the car so they would completely dry.

    What do you guys think?

It looks ok in the pics, but I'm pretty sure the sun will fade it's way into streaks... hehe

    Plus, there's this:

In the pic, apparently they painted the outside. I painted the inside of my lenses. Lasts longer that way, and looks cleaner.

I bought that same paint, but to me it looks like it is a lot lighter, almost yellow.* I guess i just have to have a little faith* Plus when I find a stanley set of lights at the junkyard I will use the paint. My originals were cracked when I bout my CB so I bought the cheap ebay ones.

What if you sprayed a few light layers of clear on it? just to seal it a little better?

I'm not 100% positive, but I have a feeling (I used to paint my models with markers.. lol) that the clearcoat MAY eat away and cause the sharpie coating to break down, similar to using break cleaner on oil if that makes any sense. I know the sharpie coating is dry, but the clear coat is not. I guess it depends, you may be able to use acrylic clear.

For such a lo-tech way, i think it looks pretty good. x12 on it fading, but youll have to try the clearcoat. See what it does.
