simple diy: I know that there are threads for this already, but mine is original and different then the rest. Thanks!
materials:
candy apple red transparent paint
one sheet of document folder plastic cover(not the plastic wrapping over the package)
3 194 hyper white or LED bulbs
razor
phillips and flat head screwdriver
needle nose plyers
19mm socket and wrench
note:No pics for all steps
First, take the radio out, the center console, a/c vents, hazard, defrost, dimmer, cruise/sunroof, change tray, ash tray and the plastic dash overlay(phillips head screwdriver) then use the flat head screwdriver to pry the H in center of the steering wheel off. Take the 19mm socket and wrench an take off steering wheel and unplug the connector(make sure to make wheels straight before taking it off to insure allignment). use phillips head screwdriver to unbolt the 4 screws on the gauge cluster. Unhook the 3 wiring harnesses and take out the cluster. On the top of the cluster is a white rectangle type structure, unscrew those screws and there you will find a blue/black plastic sheet. take that out. also undo the white plastic piece and spray the inside with the red transparent paint.Make a template for the new plastic sheet to replace the blue/black by tracing the pattern with a black permanent marker. there are some shades of black on the plastic piece that need to be filled in. then spray that new clear piece with the red paint as well and let dry. use the needle nose plyers to take out the 3-194 bulbs on the back of the cluster and replace them with the bulbs of your choice. once the paint has dried. place the new plastic piece inside and place the white piece back on to the cluster.
Now put everything back together cluster first, steering wheel and so on. The reason for the new red plastic piece is to make your needles glow red.
the end result should look something like this...
the red plastic piece
and the gauges
just something thought up when i was bored
