    INT: Painting E-Brake Button

I didn't see a DIY for this so I made my own. It looks better than flaking chrome

    Instructions:

Unscrew the button with a wrench
    Sand it down
    Paint it ( 2 or 3 coats )
    Let dry
    Then Install
    Very easy to do.

I used black gloss spray paint, cause that was all I had but I thought it would look good to paint it the same color as your aftermarket shift knob. I used 150 grit sand paper, there may be better but that was all I had in my garage.

Here are some Before & After pics:

I didn't let mine dry long enough thats why it isn't very shiney but it still looks good.

Good job on thinking outside the box! I know that I'm gonna need to do this on my car, but I wasn't sure on how to go about doing it. Thanks!

            So the button just un-screws

I had my center console and e-brake handle off for 2 months and this just doesnt sound right because I looked for a way to remove the button, because mine is flaking.

Did this not mess up the spring behind the button?

Some how this just does not sound right to me..I need some pic sof it off before I would even attempt to un-screw it .

This is all my opinion though, but to anyone trying this I would use caution.

No, it didnt mess nothing up it works the same as it did before.

When when you unscrew it the bolt is right there at the end of the handle and the spring pushes the button out. It is hard to explain, I will put some pics up.

              Unscrewed >>

The spring fits on the bottom the button >>

This is a bad pic but if you look close you can see the spring and the bolt is in the middle >>

So is this how you would go about installing an aftermarket ebrake? You just unscrew the botton, and the rest comes off easily?

hmm, the glue isnt breaking loose. Arrozburner told me to just take a knife to it and cut it out.

when you say unscrew, do you mean keep turning the button until it comes out?

Yea just keep unscrewing it, the bolt thing that holds it is pretty long.
