use of a pickle fork and a big hammer and careful placement of said fork

I'd never use a pickle fork unless you plan on replacing your balljoints. A BIG hammer should do enough damage. Just hammer the fuck out of the metal around the ball joint.

So my driver side wheel bearing is def going out. i can hear it rubbing as im driving and doesnt sound good or feel good. Do i absolutely have to take it to a shop to get the bearing pressed out and the new one pressed in? or is there a way to do it at home? les shawb wants like 260 for new bearing, labor and allignment. Too much money that i dont have. But i also need to replace the wheel bearing.

No, you don't need to take it to a shop to have it pressed in.

Simply remove take the old stuff apart, grease up the inner bore of the hub and the with a big socket(axle nut socket) you can hammer it back in.

What happens when a wheel bearing is no longer good?
