That 2k clear that you linked to is what I used on my headlamp lenses recently. It is convenient to use when I don't want to mix up a batch of clear coat and break out the spray gun rig. The 2k canned clearcoat is a lot more durable than the standard canned clearcoat products from Duplicolor and the like. It has proven to have really good gloss and also very durable to rock chips and debris.

I stole this idea from another member (i hope it's not you SSMAccord haha), but this is more of a test. I have to re-do the interior door panels this winter and this idea was to have a rope go around the outside. I need a thicker rope and for those doing this 25 feet will be just enough. This is 3/16" rope. Some places fit nice, others want to fall out. So guess I'll try 1/4" next or try one.

Here's 1/4" nylon rope that looks and fits much better. This is just stuffed on top of the other stuff too.





Tried panting some chrome items. Didn't turn out as "chrome" as I was thinking. Maybe I need more coats or a clear.... , but the surface was smooth... soooo not sure about this yet. You tube videos had some refection, guessing it's the prepped surface thing.

I have never managed to find a truly chrome spray paint. They all kinda look like metallized silver paint.

It is fairly common to have small parts plated these days. It would require really thorough surface prep to get a factory like finish.

I really like the contrast of that white against the black. Some gloss clear may help the emblem shine more. I do think it looks nice as is though, as I am partial to the brushed look.

Still not sure on the Chrome paint . I see guys going full pro with paint guns and can get the mirror look. But others nope... they got what i got. I'm starting to think that if you're using the cheap can version it may not be possible.

All the youtube videos are saying that a mirror finish is possible and to do 3 x gloss black coats first, then the 3-5 chrome layers. *shrugs*... going to give it a try. Anyone done this yet?

The alsa chrome looks excellent. I have never encountered this product, but from watching the video it seems like it would definitely work for this application.

I'm trying to figure out the chrome paint for my custom emblems, too. My first attempt actually went pretty decent. Following this guy's tutorial, with the exact paints (except I didn't wait the three days for the black to dry, or a full day for the chrome), I was seeing some reflection. I want to keep experimenting with it before applying it to my emblems, but these cans are so small it's not cheap to spend too much experimenting. I think I'll get 'good enough' results in the end, though.

I actually tried a chrome vinyl wrap over my emblem, which obviously looks amazing on large flat surfaces and would be the most ideal in terms of durability, but it couldn't get into the sharp detailed places and generally looked like crap around the corners.

Also, when I removed the chrome from my grille to spray it body color, I just picked it off with either a razor blade or my finger nail. It took time, but seemed to be the easiest way.

So ya,
- the heat gun on chrome = fail.
- soaked in degreaser for 2 days = fail

And the chrome paint in the can = fail too. It just comes out looking silver. It never goes to a shine. Sooo guessing the only way to get real "reflection" chrome is dipping or pro spray gun and pro paint like the video.

Thanks man! And that makes sense as buddy had them in bleach for 8 days. When I did my grill in a bathtub I only did about 14 hours. So looks like bleach will work. So now just have to figure out how to do proper chrome .....
