              Smog check

I was actually nervous this time, although I should have put more faith in that 50 state legal CARB Cat from Magnaflow.

I luckily got the youngest licensed inspector to test mine. He was either my age or younger. He gets in my car, and looks around for about sixty seconds, probably confused by the lack of paneling and the race wheels where the back seats used to be. He asks me to make sure my driver's window rolls down and then says "doin' a little weight reduction?"

It was a torturous 40 minutes before they were done, but I passed! Pretty stoked. Now I can work with the P12.

                Late June Updates

Sonik once told me that fabbing up a mount for my battery was extra work. Boy, he couldn't be more right! I've got an Odyssey PC 680 with the beautifully simple billet aluminum hold down kit. Seemed simple enough to install in the engine bay:

But I had to bend the frame and shave off part of the headlight bracket to make it fit. Not pretty:

With this placement, Ill have to remove the filter to put the ram air pipe on, so that will only be done once I'm at the track. Thank you, Sonik, for all your help with the wiring !

I was super blessed to have a great valve cover paint job done by F20A CB7! Silver with black accents and clear coat. If you want a valve cover paint job or some other paint job done extremely well, be sure to ask him!

Putting this on proved to me that patience actually saves time in the end. Being in a hurry lead me to lose a cap nut, break off the top thread from the left rocker arm assembly stud in another cap nut due to over-tightening, and crack the PCV. Lost a lot of time and energy, having to go to pick n pull twice. I just have to slow down!!!

I replaced the spark plugs (NGK Laser Platinums) and the wires (NGK blues) and seals while the vc was off. There was a little oil film on each plug .

Now I am all ready for drag racing on July 4th!

Sure thing, I will. I'm hoping for mid or, dare I say, low 15's. I'll also snap some better pictures.

Thank you. I remember when I used to have a white front bumper cover!

White bumper cover lol. Good times.

I'm working on a very lightweight lithium/supercap hybrid pack. Should weigh less than 10lbs. Should turn out pretty nice.

                              One Pass

I was more than a little disappointed that I could only get one practice run in before I had to go home and be with family, but I was satisfied by getting my best run so far on the first pass. I am going back Wednesday for their Wednesday night drag series and will be there as soon as the gates open. No more missing out!

Those wheels and tires make a huge difference, but my 60' time needs to continue to decrease. I believe I would have had a high 15's run if not for a bad choice launch rpm. I was at 3200rpm, but I think launching near 4k would be better for these tires, especially after a dry burnout.

                              Left lane, of course:

I uploaded the video from the run into post #2. It's the third one.
