Anyway, I'm really anxious to see how the block turns out. I may have to do that to that I bought off patrick. I want that block looking good for what I'm going to do with it

The only thing I get out of waiting is a headache, and when the waiting is over I usually get hosed.

Keep up the good work with your car Mike, looks good as always.

mucho gracias senor... i dont have any intention of showing it, though i do hope this engine bay (and eventually the car as a whole) turns out to be worthy of showing. its really just for my own benefit, ive always dreamed of popping my hood and getting to look at a brand-new looking motor, one thats easy to work on without getting grimey crap all over my hands. locally, ill probably keep the hood closed. on occasion i simply tell people i have "an h22", most of the time i dont even mention anything. i have a pair of hood locks that im considering putting on, but i dont want to see the bumps on the hood...

                  anyway another pic

Thats the way to do it... always tell them its just stock

As far as the hood locks. They do make ones that work somewhat like a hood release latch. You put it in the cabin, and you unlock it with a key. And it slides a locking tab/bar through a part mounted on the hood. And you dont see a thing from the outside.

any more information on this? happen to remember the brand name?

anyway i did some more work last night. took the oil cooler and water pipe off the back of the block and painted it. installed the new crank and balance shaft seals, gaskets, o-rings, on the block and put the timing belt crap and oil pump back together.

im picking up the new tranny hopefully sometime this week (jason, CALL ME) once i pick that up and get a chance to clean it, ill probably put the block and tranny into the car. maybe this weekend.

still waiting on the ferrea valve springs and retainers from hemlockz, once those get here, ill be stopping at Aldo's Automotive Precision Machine, and ill have them grind/cut the valves & seats and get that vac tested and such. then its time to start putting it back together!

heres a random picture i took with my phone while i was working, its more put together than this. figured id get the pic off my phone, and why not post it up.

what do you think of my grey dipstick handle?

so the euro-r crank pulley is a half pound lighter than a normal pulley, and the ACT flywheel is half the weight of a stock one.
