Using the code provided below you can setup a DIY remote for you Nikon camera. With a few changes to the code you could make a very cheap, ~$3, intervalometer. The parts I used were
ATtiny85
5mm IR LED: Radio Shack 276-0143 (Wired from Resistors off Pin 1 to GND)
Pushbotton (Wired from Pin 2 to +5V)
(1) 1.0k-ohm 1/4 Watt Resistor (From Pin 2 to GND [Pulldown Resistor])
(2) 100-ohm 1/4 Watt Resistor (In series from ATtiny85 Pin 1 to LED +)
