    Timing Mark not visible, ideas?

I recently swapped in my F22a1 into my 92 EX Cb7. It's finally running right, and I need to exactly set my timing, then retard it, so it's perfect for when I finally test out my nitrous.

Problem is, I can't find the Red mark that is supposed to be on the flywheel, although I can see the black marks. How should I set the timing according to these marks?

let me know what you think.

Are you using an adjustable cam gear? Or are you just moving the dizzy around?

More than likely the dirt has turned the red marks black. Clean the Flywheel with Brake Parts Cleaner. Locate the TDC & 15* Marks and remark them with a white out pen.

Alright, so with the cam gear at TDC, which mark is supposed to be lined up? I have a "-", a "T" and a "15". I just used a hanger to see when the engine was at TDC.

With the NO. 1 cylinder (closet to dizzy)at TDC, the "-" marks (which are across from eachother on the back of the cam gear) are parallel to the top of the head.....and the "UP" marking is at the top.

Okay, maybe it's my fault for not explaining well. When the cam gear is at 12:00, what mark should be visible on the flywheel ? The T,-, or 15? I have no colored marks, just rust.

The white "-" I believe, so NO. 1 Cylinder is at TDC. So the timing is set at 0, no +/- from TDC.

cyl #1 is always the one closest to the timing belt. The solid white line is the 0deg mark. Adjust + or minus from there. Until you get the cam timing where you want. Then you gotta set the dizzy timing with the timing light.

Ignition timming is different from cam (valve) timming.
