got board and decided to play around with the shifter. saw the diy on the forum for the $3 mod, so i gave it a go.
bought the parts from Lowe's and had my myself some cheap fun.
the first try i attempted i didn't have the fender washers and the cable slipped off the rubber bushing while dry shifting. so went back and put these on and no prob since. it does kinda rub on the console a bit only in 5th, and you touch it in 1st and 3rd, but its not unbearable. for the price i can live with it.
i was surprised to find that this actually made a decent difference and feels very solid. I'll still go with a forbidden shifter in the future, but until then, it does the job.

well...my wife scratched the car...we were taking some laundry over to my dads to get it done since our washer took a dump, anyways, as shes walking towards the car with the basket, she sits it on the edge of the trunk and pushes it towards the glass giving it allot of scratching it even still had that morning dew and the settled dust to add to the scratches......not only did she do it once, but twice......
well found out my dad has a angle buffer so tomorrow I'm going to try an buff it out, I'm probably going to do the whole car with a good compound to get the all the minor scratches out and then give it a good wax.
pictures to follow once I'm done.
