Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    head build

ok so here's the deal rebuilding the head on my dohc f22b, and heres what i have so far. going with bisi stage 1.2 custom grind cams, 35 degree fly cut on the valves hoping to use stock springs and retainers, and port and polish on the head. what concerns me is hedi @ bisimoto says i need a new aem ecu or hondata piggyback to make it run properly. was kinda hoping there was a cheaper alternative. oh and i'm running a p39 for my ecu. let me kno what u think of my plans

I think you should wait on the cam, and get the springs, retainers, and valves upgraded first. Your car won't run well on the cam without a tuned ECU or some kind of tuning setup, and I don't know how well your stock springs will hold up to the new cam.

Doit the right way and upgrade your springs and retainers at the same time. Its stupid not to do it when you have the head all taken apart and only half build it especially when you are planning on doing a port and polish.

Hedi is correct in that in order to maximize the output potential of a built head you will need a tunable ecu and tuning time in order to get it to a point that you are happy. IMO a port and polish and a cam are a waste of money without a tune.

well i was going with springs and retainers but bisi doesn't sell them for my motor, and hedi said i could use the stock ones. i am lookin into springs from isky. as far as tuning i was wondering if i could find someone reputable to chip and tune my existing ecu. as far as cams i will go ahead and get the cams and what ever else is needed at the time. just wanna do it right

she recommended aem and homodata because that is what they use the most.

find an eCtune or neptune tuner and reap the benefits of an affordable management.

Depending on how much power you're aiming for, you could just go with Crome free edition.
