Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

not without some compression, i dont think you'll reach 200 especially without vtec.

wow really, i thought i would b pretty close to 200whp with the headwork and the header. so it looks like after thinkin and thinkin some more i'm prob going to go all in on this. i guess i'm gonna do oversized valves after all. adn do springs and retainers while i'm at it. this is turning out to b costing more than i expected but i guess my best bet is to go all the way and only do this once. my only concern is if i go all out on the head will my bottom end b fine for the time being?

do a cylinder leak down and see what condition your rings are in. oversized valves are a lot of work especially if new seats have to go in. my shop just finished off a d16z6 and we put all new bronze guides, new ferrea oversized valves with new seats, extensive hours on just the valve job. hes probably looking at about 1k without the port work. granted, this is burlingame california pricing which is really expensive.

i say do the headwork first, get it tuned and running well. when it is running well, save up money for parts. you'll already have the ecu, it will be tuned for that cam(s).

or you can build a h23/f22b and then just swap motors to eliminate down time.

i already did a compression test b4 the motor was taken apart i belive it hit 180 on the gauge on all cylinders. and the motor i am building is the f22b. already swapped my f22a6 back in so down time is not an issue just trying to find the best way to do this

To do a proper, professional 220-230 whp daily driven build on the F22 you're looking at $7-$9K. Trust me, I've priced it all out. Anything less will either not reach the whp goal or not be dd reliable. I have a ways to go to build my car fund up to that point.

it can be done for well under 5k$ if you know where to get your parts

7-9k to up a 160 crank hp motor to 220 whp motor? That sounds like a lot

Seeing how if you look hard you can buy a turbo DSM for under 1000 and take all the parts from that to turbo the car, get a properly tuned ECU, and a little bit of work and you should be close.

Looks like I'll be contacting you when the time comes then. The hardest problem for me is finding a somewhat local quality machine shop experienced with Honda engines.

One of the expenses for me that isn't completely necessary will be the AEM pencil coil conversion. I want the adjustability, reliability, and under-hood simplisity of COP and it'll let me put alot of miles on the 230whp block safer than the dizzy setup will, imo.

Sorry, I missed the part where you're building the F22b, I don't know as much about building that platform as the F22a. A turbo build will almost always get you to your desired whp cheaper than N/A will and offer alot of room for future expansion. It just depends on wether you want N/A or boost.

If your staying real motor you need more compression. 11.5-12:1 Therefore, A nice set of forged pistons would help your valve & port job, cam and header.

stock ignitions can take well over 500whp. 230whp is nothing.

Granted it definitely will. But you're still somewhat limited on adjustability and I absolutely HATE the huge dizzy sitting there on the end of the head. Not to mention COP will deliver a more precise and powerful spark than distributor ignition ever will with much less long term maintenance. The distributor is an outdated system and for a good reason.

And the DVD player is outdated by blu-ray, but when a blu-ray player costs 10 times as much the DVD is the more practical choice (or in this case, when the pencil coil costs 10 times as much as the regular coil)

so where is a good place to get parts? i am going to stay n/a don't ask me why and call me stubborn but i always wanted to build an n/a motor. especially after i put in for the bisi header. also i think i'm going to stick with top end for now. bottom end will receive the attention it deserves, but in due time. and thanks guys for all the input i'm getting some good info here
