ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Your can try the trim black paint... wont fade anymore.

New one cost alot so try to avoid that... unless your pockets are deep enough.

I would either use Mothers or McGuires back to black trim detailer if you don't want to paint. It works really well. I use it every time I wash my car.

You probably did not sand or prep the surface before painting it that's why you paint flake and fall off.

if you paint it your deffinatly gonna need to get some plastic paint adhesive. i have a can of it in my garage but i havent used it yet so i couldnt really tell you how it works. im pretty sure you just spray it on before the paint

please dont catch your car on fire. i would find some extra molding to use first. just to see if it will have the same results.

not sure if our moldings are made from the same plastic/rubber as these jeep flares. but worth a try.

the lil piece of molding on the front fender and the one on the door (coupe), seems to be made slightly different. i dunno maybe its just my car but the lil one gets a faded gray color but stays shiny and the big one gets a dull flat faded black...its hard to explain lol ill see if i can get some pics...i ususally use the mothers BTB. but i think painting is the best way to go...just make sure u prep correctly...and i dont think the fire method will work the same as that vid.

Nah, I tried it on mine. The rubber just melts and doesn't get any more black. Works for the bumper molding and lip though.

Painted mine with no problem. Does take some time a patience though. I got black auto trim paint at Advance Auto but could get at any auto store. Some people tape and some take it off. I took mine off but you have to be careful removing the molding on the doors. Its easy to break the clips that hold them on. Would rather buy new clips then new paint job. This will give you the best longest lasting results.

I painted mines with blakc caliper paint and primer. and a good sanding and tack rag. its a matte finish which looks exactly what it would look like with tireshine. 6 months later still looks semi glossy. never had to apply tireshine again. which is good because dirt wont stick to it.

FOREVER BLACK for the win. This is more like a dye in a polymer fluid. Works wonders on faded plastic and lasts..well..forever. Applied with an on bottle, applicator sort of like liquid shoe polish applicator.

a heat gun works wonders on our side moldings. Mine used to be a light grey, then i used the heat gun and moved it back and forth like a spray gun and it brought them back to life

the fender and quarter mouldings on the coupe's are just molded plastic. The door mouldings are all moulded plastic with metal reinforcements on the inside that make them a little stronger. The door mouldings can bend and damage easily if removed improperly.
