360 games, state of decay and day z

you would hate fallout. i love roaming around because im really curious.

my buddy just picked up a 360 so state of decay looks pretty good.

I love Fallout, kind of wish the next one would at least be announced instead of the occasional rumors that you hear here and there.

I purposedly don't start fallout new vegas unles I know I have a whole week to spare. It sucks me in like a bad drug addiction.

I thought I was the shit when I finally found a level within the level. I was all like "see I told you so" to my friends. The race on that mountain, you know you jump through the wall while dodging big ass bolders. I think it was the level with the wall enemy guys and the owl in the tree.



I kicked ass at that game. I still play it occasionally actually. My son has N64 in his room and once in a while I will hear him playing it so I have to go show him hows its done.

I loved Fallout when I first got it, but after a few weeks I felt like it started to make me depressed

It was the blah landscape, the post apocalyptic world that was so dark and dirty. I had to put it down, even though I still feel like it is a very well made game.

I might try playing again in the future...

Nah. I did get into a MMORPG called Shaiya last year, like HEAVILY but then the group broke up and they banned the server we used so I never went back.

I had one or two level 60 toons.

That's BS for banning the server, I'd be pissed...

State of decay came out this week, and it was/is everything I hoped for. Theres no story, and a story at the same time. Theres an open world to explore, with consequences if you get off path. The graphics could be better, frame rates could be better, but, the gameplay is awesome and the feel of the game is right on.


Its basically $20 from xbox live arcade, and it is worth it. There is a free demo, and the demo is kind of slow going. Once you get the game and start playing, shit gets real.

The game does a good job of putting you in a situation where you are antsy about whats going on. It takes a second to perform the "search" and sometimes those seconds matter. You can sprint away from a mob, but doing so makes you tired and sluggish eventually.



As an example, I was searching a house last night and the guy I was with(not co-op) was fighting off the zombies while I was searching. You have an option to "search faster" but that makes noise.

The guy was getting over run, so I "searched faster" which made some noise and caused a reaction from the zombies. Instead of wondering around the house I was in, they start breaking down windows/doors and shit. So, panic sets in. You can run normal as fast as them, for a distance. They don't get tired.


You can sprint for a shorter distance, and this is much faster than them, but you get tired a lot faster too.


So anyways, me and the other guy scramble to the truck, I hop in the drivers side and he hops in the back of the truck. As I am scrambling to steer, accelerate and smash on the x button to open/close the door to get the zombie off the truck, a walkie talkie starts going off about "come to town, we are holed up in a church"


So, just like GTA style a beacon pops up on the map and you start driving towards it. Still fighting the zombies off the truck, dude in the back is having a hard time with the zombies climbing into the bed of the truck and steering is getting hard as speed gets up there. BAM! a herd of zombies all the sudden and a narrow bridge.


I am hauling ass passed the seemingly hundreds of zombies, finally got the one off the drivers side door and then BOOM the bridge is busted on the far side and is unable to be crossed. So now, I am reversing into a mob of zombies, since the bridge is too narrow to turn around.

Dude in the back is exposed to the herd, its hard to steer in reverse, shit starts getting intense......







Basically what I am saying is the game is legit. Go check it out. I am LOVING it. I hope it takes off and inspires a Co-op playable update, new version, something.



The noise system works like stars does on GTA. You make noise in the proximity of your guy(circle on map shows how far you are audible) and if there are zombies in your circle and you make noise, they notice-kind of like hitman.



Its cool as fuck though the way the game is designed to put you into a constant decision making process, that results in intense situations that running away is often the only answer.

Pepople that want to stand and fight will die fast on this game.


And, once a character dies, thats it. No continues, nothing.


The way the game carries on is through other people you rescue/reunite with. Other survivors become playable and you play on "surviving" with those charchters if your guy dies. Last man standing dies, no two ways about it, you are starting over.


That alone adds an interesting element of anxiety when the shit gets hot in the game. Seriously, awesome approach to using your natural reactionary feelings in the game to make the game better.

I'm starting to really hate microshit. The new XBOX is supposed to be all in one entertainment, yet I won't be able to play any one of my 30 or so plus 360 games....LAME

Ya BC is nothing new to us Sony fans. PS got rid of their BC with the first iteration of PS3's. Only the Fat 40GB had BC.

I have a slim 160G and so I just sold all my Ps2 games. There were some I missed, but for the most part, Ps3 has been amazing and I forgot about those games.

The only games I hold near and dear are like Nintendo games from the 80s lol. I just play those on my Nexus7 or my Wii.

Im not sure why Microsoft made these changes.....they had a good thing.....they just trying to do too much I think.

Yeah, they are even trying to pass laws that give game makers a piece when you sell your game to someone else, like a licensing fee to install on the box or something.


PS4 is doing this too. So if I take my copy of my game to your house, i won't be able to play it on your machine w/out paying new fee's.



I think all of that crap is a bunch of bullshit.









The all in one device seems cool enough though. Once the internet replaces cable, xbox and ps4 will dominate as the main interfacing tools for tv. HBOGO and apps like it are the future of TV in my opinion, so, the gaming industry is making a play for the device that plays it. I think its genius.


John Mccain(older balls POW John Mccain) is fighting right now with congress to make cable companies more reasonable and he is also trying to force them to offer us each channel individually.


Basically, he thinks we shouldn't be forced to buy a bunch of shit we don't want and I agree.





I really do hope internet replaces cable soon. Atleast make it competitive so cable prices come back down. You guys probably won't beleive this, but when I first moved out(in a cave 10,000 years ago) cable was $19.99/month AND THEN COX CAME TO TOWN and sold it for $14.99 including the box.


Swear to god. My dad used to tell me that when he first had cable it was $7.99/month.

It'll never be cheap like that again, but the $160/month I pay now is fucking outrageous.
