ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

It's just simple math, though. The shims are available from Honda in specified thicknesses. Just measure what you need, come up with the combination of shims you need from Honda and order them.
My Members' Ride Thread - It's a marathon build, not a sprint. But keep me honest on the update frequency!

"simple math" and "measure" are often foreign concepts to people.
I assume the Helm manual would probably include the procedure for this, correct?

Wow I didn't expect to get so many replies. It makese wonder why I ever used any other forum to begin with. Lol

Tishock- thanks for the videos that alone is very helpful and honestly that is not half as bad as I thought it was gonna be.

Now for the aftermarket LSD conversions would the F series be the same as the H and vice versa? I know you said Honda LSD won't fit into a non LSD tranny but would the aftermarket parts be limited to one or the other? Also are there any sites you guys prefer that sell these or is it just a wherever i can find it kinda thing?

Thank you guys though yinz have already been very helpful.

Aftermarket parts are limited to the non-LSD transmission cases. I'm not certain if the H and F stuff is interchangeable. Someone else should be able to confirm or deny that.

So far I found a phantom LSD conversion for about $200 and another for $279 if I recall correctly BUT they both only say for Honda open differentials from 90-97. They did come up with a search for cb7 LSD conversion kit but beyond that they didn't go into much detail.

The Quaife website lists the exact same part number for an LSD for the F and H series transmissions. So, yes, aftermarket LSDs should fit both H and F.

All the internals should swap between H and F transmissions. Replacing the differential is possible but not for the inexperienced or weak of heart.

You have to remove lots of stuff to crack the tranny open. To replace the diff you have to take out the main and counter shafts. If you don't know what you are doing, get the help of someone who does, or maybe take tons of photos of every disassembly step so you know how to put it back together. We had a hell of a time getting the case back together. There are several tricky steps that I don't even know how to describe. Getting the case on without disloging anything was like playing that old game Operation but blind with pliers. We eventually succeeded and it shifts. We're going to finish re-assembling the car tomorrow and drive it. God I hope it works. My teammate has done transmission stuff before so he helped lots.
