Great job wherm, that deck looks great! The mix of different stone colors and types between the red retaining wall and the grey pillar stones doesn't look that great to me, but its not my house!

Thanks man! I think it'll fit a little better once the cladding around the deck is finished. The cladding and retaining wall colors are real close, and the stone pillar is close to the cobblestone post sleeves. The thin stone veneer that I used on the pillar will eventually wrap around the entire house below the siding. At that point I think it'll all make more sense and really set it off!

I spent some time today cutting the final pieces that attach to the top of the lower staircase railings. All I have to do now is sand them down smooth, stain them and install them. After that, I have to finish my handrails, and the cladding around the rest of the deck.

My wife wants a fence to keep the neighbor kids out lol... We couldn't have a fence though even if we wanted one. We are in a development and have to abide by the covenants for it . Even still, we have a 6' utility easement on either side of our lot lines, and 20' from the back lot line.

that sucks dude. HOA communities like to make cookie-cutter homes out of every bodies houses, every one looking the same as the next. like some restate nazi shit

Why on earth would you want to fence in a backyard that big and awesome. It would block a good sized amount of the view he has and would prevent any walks in the woods

why the hell not dude. having no fence in the middle of nowhere is ok, but in a community like that just invites thefts & trespassers. also you cant even have a dog to run free around the back yard cuz he'll run away. plus forget about keeping spare cars or parts back there. with no fence the community leaders or the city code inspectors will be on your ass about putting stuff back there.

& btw he couldve added a gate to access the woods or what ever, & most home windows are high enough to see over a 6ft fence
