    Distributor Problem. Need help

So this just happened today. I wasnt doing anything but driving home from work. I started hearing a prety loud squeaking and kind of grinding noise. I pulled over to check it out. The noise was coming from my distributor. Took it home and checked it out. I wasnt sure what it was and I wasnt familiar with it. Havent done a tune up for a good minute so i ran to autzone got everything i need except the spark plug wires. Replaced everything and im still hearing the noise. What do i need to do now? I might be able to get a video of what it sounds like and how its running. But thats if anyone really needs it. Please help me if you know what my problem is. Thanks.

take your distr. off and try to move the shaft on the distr. if it hard to move, then yes you do need a new one. I don't think you can rebuild a bearing on the distr. at least I haven't seen any yet since i've been in the car business.

What you hear is the bearing gone bad. You will need another distributor. If you go the used route, I recommend buying a new o-ring from Honda.

Ok. So lets update. Called around to find out the price on a distributor. Since i have an F20a im not sure what car it comes out of so the only parts i know will match up would be the H23. So called around and the prices were from 300 to 700. Depending on brand and all that. So i called the junkyard. Found one off an H23 they hooked us up for 100 dollars. Brought took it home. Come to find out that it doesnt have the internal coil. Completely different and i have no experience with this kind of stuff. What do i do now? anyone? Anyone know someone that has a F20a and sellin parts off of?

i think theres a DIY for doing an internal to external coil. i mean if you're desperate enough to do it that is.

i even found it for you...

Would a H22 distributor work on a non vtec engine though? Do you think a stock f series distributor will work? I prety much replaced the distributor and put the whole wiring harness on to the H23 distributor and put it on the car. It started the car and i could drive the car but it threw a engine code. Code 9. Saying that the first piston or cylinder has a problem. never said this before and all i did was change the distributor. any help?

That code is a problem with the distrubitor. The sensor is inside of the dizzy.
