    It runs!

After sitting at my dad's for a year, and not being started for at least six months, the CB was running today! She's in kinda rough shape, though, but things should be happening quickly. Next week she's going in to the shop. Seals, timing belt, water pump, oil/air filter, and the like. After that, passenger side hub bearing needs replacement. Also needs a good cleaning, inside and out, audio system needs work, hood cable is stretched, little bit of rust removal would be nice, and a repaint couldn't hurt, but those last two probably won't happen for awhile.

And I'm deffinately considering it. Its just that I already have a new hub for the CB. I actually bought it a few months before the car came off the road.

Ebay it and buy the ROH stuff

Also, before you sink money into that motor, take it on the highway. Drive it at 65mph+ for 15 minutes or so, and make sure it isn't burning oil.

I let my 3rd gen sit for a while (like 2 years... ), sold it to acclude91, who drove it and then let it sit for another 6 months... when I picked it back up last summer, it was fine... until I hit the highway. Then I realized that the rings were totally shot, and it was blowing a spy-hunter-esque cloud of blue smoke!

Don't put money into replacing stuff on that motor if it's shot... unless you replace the parts that are shot!

Oh, its burning all right. Not a ton, though. That's what I told the mechanic. Timing belt, water pump, oil/air filter, leaking, burning, and whatever else he feels should go along with that. He quoted me $350-400, or around that much.

If it's the piston rings, as I'm sure my issue is... it'll require a full teardown of the motor.

Oy, I hope not. Its not doing the spy-hunter cloud of blue smoke, though, so I'm hoping it isn't that bad.

Hopefully not. That's a lot of money to put into an engine that needs so much more...

Of course, you could always just save for some forged internals and boost that sucker

Nah, thats a bit outside my price range right now. As soon as we get some consistently good weather around here, I'm gonna hit up some junkyards for an H23 intake mani and TB, and an A4 header.
