Sigs...

Ok, it has come to my attention that there are some people with sigs that are just plain offensive... whether they're calling out other members (flaming, basically), causing trouble by putting down groups, or cb7s in general, or pushing the limits of good taste.


Rather than punish everyone, as I did before... which I know wasn't fair... I have decided to make a new usergroup. I'm going to make use of this feature in other areas as well.


Basically, if you can't play by the rules, you lose the privilege. If you have a sig that breaks the rules, you will find yourself unable to have a sig. Period. It may or may not be permanent. Everything else remains the same... you just won't be able to have a sig.



Right now, it's for sigs. It may be carried over to other things as well, such as the classifieds.




The rules are posted. They are expected to be followed. You will not receive a warning.



A few members have already lost their sig privileges.

SIGNATURES!!! You are allowed a personalized signature. Each signature may contain text and/or pictures totalling no more than 500 pixels in width and 300 pixels in height. Anything over will be removed and you will be notified. ANY offensive content in your signature (picture OR text) will be removed by a moderator and you will be notified. Repeat offenses will result in a temporary (and eventually permanent) ban.

Yeah, I'll have to adjust that as well. I accept up to 800 wide, but I left it at 500 because people always push the limits anyway. My resolution is fairly large, and 800 sits nicely on my screen, without making me scroll.


Eric fixed it so oversized sigs get cut off (strangely, only in the non-beginner sections, I think! or at least only for non-beginner members...)

I suppose I can bump it to a declared 800x300.

If yours was too big, it'd be cut off. Size isn't really an issue any more... Honestly, that was never the point of this thread. The point is that offensive material will cost you your ability to have a sig. The size has been taken care of.


I may also make it so beginner members can't have or view sigs... just to cut down on "buy my stuff" crap.

I know you're kidding... but to others...


If your sig is there, it's fine. If it's not cut off, it's not too large. No need to ask.

If it's not offensive, you will be asked to change it if there is another problem (like some animated sigs cause an extreme slowdown... they will only be removed if a request goes ignored).

If it doesn't slow anything down, it's fine.


The only slowdown I ever experienced was oneoffaccord's old sig... with the 3d spinning car.
