how can anyone really vote for bush? he hasnt really done squat his whole presidency cept this last year and even then the things hes done is very questionable
*** marriage ban = government established discrimination(woohoo go religious votes )
tax cuts = good if you are in the top 20% of income bracket (woohoo go rich people and big business )
employment = job? what jobs? (woohoo for anyone not in the lower or lower middle class )
deficit = bush "oh you mean we have to pay it back? ill let our kids do that"
class seperation is at the furthest its been in awhile and it will only get worse if bush gets a second term
then there is that whole thing about iraq where more soldiers have died since the end of "main conflict" than during, where they are holding reservists longer than supposed to, where they might put the draft back into effect...etc
now im not saying kerry is the absolute answer but this is just like the last election where basically it was choosing between the lesser of two idiots, but bush is a good example of what not to do
Oooo.. more soldiers have died after than during... OMG!!! Cuz its not like we didnt lose more soldiers in a month of Vietnam than we have in the entirety of the Iraq conflict..
Alright, fine. Name a war and I can telly ou we lost more people in a much shorter amount of time than all of Iraq.
Hypothetical question- What if it was Al Gore that won the last election and he was the one that went to war with Iraq? How would you feel about it then?

I would have felt great about it. We would have gone in with our ALLIES, a plan, and a solution for this entire mess. Jump off Al Gore jackass, that was 3 years ago. People really piss me off with that shit. Bush is an absolute jackass. Look at the state of our economy, it's fucking pitiful.
vietnam wasnt right but that is history and in any case if the US actually tried to win that war it wouldve been different but alot of other things were going on in the world and we didnt want other countries to get involved when we were basically just in vietnam to protect our interests there
iraq is current, technology has changed drastically along with the fact that its in a theater where the US has fought in and trained in before so of course the number of loses is gonna b less
IF gore went to war with iraq (who's to say he wouldve done the same thing, alot of ppl still think bush just went after iraq to finish what his dad started) it might have been the same it might not have. the question i have is would he lie to the american people about the situation? now i know all politicians lie but this is one major fubar on behalf of the presidency regardless of who is in office (a republican was president during vietnam also....hmmmm)
bush's campaign is all about the war on terror (since he hasnt done anything else worth noting during his presidency) but the simple fact is....bin laden (our main target) is still at large while saddam is in court facing war crimes charges i just dont think anything has been done to make US safer
iraq has cost the american people alot since the whole thing started...and we continue to pay for it everytime we go to the gas pump
I am so sick of hearing all this bullshit about Iraq...and the War on terror...
Think about it realistically for a second...
The people creating problems in Iraq aren't Iraqui's... well some of them are... but they are mostly Islamic extremists from all over the middle east that have come to Iraq simply because our soldiers are there and they don't have to figure out how to get into the US to kill some Americans...
Now if there weren't American soldiers (whose job is fighting armed freaks that want to kill people BTW) a stone's throw from the local Al Queada HQ to keep them busy what do you think they would be doing right now and for the last year or 2?
Planning and executing terror operations against the mainland US...namely civilians and average citizens...
If it weren't for the Iraq war, we would have gotten hit again, possibly even a number of times... and people would be whining that we aren't safe enough and they are more than willing to give up their civil and constitutional rights to get that safety... and blaming Bush...
They are soldiers for christ's sakes... they are trained for this kind of thing... have some faith in them and understand that every soldier that dies is dying for you and every other citizen that doesn't have the balls to fight and die for their country...so that some innocent person isn't killed while they weren't looking...and say thank you...
If you really think that either Bush or Kerry (or any other President for that matter) will make any sort of major societal changes than you are simply taken in by the bullshit that they have thrown at you in hopes you would be taken in...and you have become a lemming...listening to what they say with pie eyed optimism and hating who they tell you to hate...believing them when they tell you the solution to all your problems...
They are salesmen and nothing more...
Clinton promised National healthcare and he never delivered... Bush promised Major tax cuts and never really delivered... Kerry is promising what exactly? Do you really think he will deliver if he is elected?
Do you honestly think that this one time will be different than every other time a presidential candidate promised something before an election? Honestly...
Wow, I'm impressed. An intelligent political debate! I was all ready to lock this up, but it's going alright for now.
As for my views, I don't like Bush. Sure, he's done some good things (which his supporters will show) and he's done some bad things (which anyone against him will violently argue). However, it's the fact that he really hasn't done much at all by himself that bothers me. I get the impression that we have a fratboy in charge of the country. Florida had a senior moment, and we ended up with Billy Madison as president.
The war in Iraq was (and still is) total bullshit. We have NO reason to be there besides the personal vendetta the Bush family had on Saddam. Zigen, you make a HELL of a point about our soldiers being there as terrorist fodder... It makes a lot of sense that they're better off killing them than coming here. I think it's a shitty strategy, since we're really not fighting anything... But it makes a lot of sense.
This is just the way history goes... Rulers aside, the tides are the same. In the dark ages, Christians were the fanatical terrorists. They went around killing all the Muslims they could find. Now, we have it the other way around. The Jews seem to be the only persecuted religious group that hasn't committed a major terroristic act... Somehow I don't see some evil Jewish man bringing about the deaths of millions of gentiles

No Gentiles... Just Arabs...
I don;t see how you can say that about the Jews either... I mean look at what they are doing to the Palestinians... It rivals what America did to the Indians...
I mean I'm not defending Palestine by any means....considering they are the originators of the suicide bombers but neither side is going to come out of that conflict smelling like roses...
Some horrible things on both sides...
I think people really delude themsleves into thinking that any one man...especially an elected official... can really do all that uch to change things in any meaningful way...Well, in any meaningful, positive way that is...
There are corporations and groups of powerful rich men that want things to either stay the same or turn in their favor (which is usually at the averages person's exspense) so they can continue making billions of dollars...and quite often they can influence things on a muvh grander scale than almost anyone is willing to admit...
I can't remember who said it but a powerful elected official once said something to the effect of the common man doesn't scare him a bit, as he can be easily influenced to side with him or distracted long enough to not be a problem... it's the mass population that frightens politicians the most... it's like a giant beast that you have to keep leashed...and they are terrified of losing control of that leash...
As long as we are bitching about the Iraq war, gas prices and what a bad/good job Bush/Kerry is/isn't doing we are not focusing on real issues and real change...that's the beauty of it... most people think they are pretty smart and know what's going on... but the sad fact is that we keep our heads in the sand and pray things will get better and in the meantime try to get a little piece of the pie for ourselves...
I don't particularly like Bush, but at least he has got some balls and will stand up for what he believes in to a certain extent...
I can only see Kerry pandering to whatever group has the most influence and trying to look good and not hurt too many people's feelings in the process...
